U.S. HAS REMOVED AN ESTIMATED STOCKPILE OF 130 NUCLEAR WEAPONS FROM RAMSTEIN AIR FORCE BASE

July 17th, 2007

Via: Deutsche Welle:

The Ramstein air base in southwestern Germany, long the largest US nuclear storehouse in Europe, has been completely emptied of its atomic arsenal according to experts who say the weapons are out of the country.

This week the Washington-based Federation of American Scientists (FAS) said in a study that the US army had apparently completely removed its stock of an estimated 130 nuclear weapons from the Ramstein air base.

Depending on the delivery mechanism, they have problably been moved to either the 51st or 52nd or by financial agreements to the 53rd state of the U.S. 1)Irael, 2) Iraq (since we own it), or 3) Saudi Arabia.
Ew boy. What are those tablets you are supposed to have on hand after a nuclear attack?
Will I be seeing you in the all-fried-zone?

    Obvious questions:

    1. Did they put them on those newly deployed B1 bombers?
    2. WTF are they planning to do with them?

I suppose this is an insurance policy. It’s still a MAD world folks!

    First strike …

Lieber and Press: “The current and future U.S. nuclear force, in other words, seems designed to carry out a preemptive disarming strike against Russia or China.”

The obvious answer is that these nuclear warheads may well be used against Iran. Spirit help us all. 🙁

first off: were the complete mechanisms moved or just the warheads? of the warheads was the ‘package’ removed or disassembled in any way?
for this to make any sense a complete picture would need to be made from the evidence. do we have evidence ‘items were removed’ from ramstein? or is this a ‘phish’ ( a non rare species of herring, usually red in colour…).
perhaps a soothing action/bit o’ info meant for the Russians?
other potentials include a ‘retooling’ of the nuclear force in germany (and elsewhere) to reflect the ‘winnable’ nuclear war scenario with more local punch weapons (tactical nukes) than area of effect (air burst standard).
if nothing else, they certainly are not getting rid of the cores/triggers anytime soon….

  7. Don’t worry, people. According to Fox News, these warheads are being taken to the Sun by Superman for disposal.
