World Spy Chiefs Gather in New Zealand

January 5th, 2007

This is a few weeks old, but it’s a good one. These are the ECHELON members, by the way. USA Today forgot to mention that. Imagine my shock.

The CIA director was among the top world spy chiefs visiting New Zealand this week for secret celebrations of the 50th birthday of the South Pacific nation’s Security Intelligence Service, local media reported Thursday.

CIA director Gen. Michael Hayden and spy chiefs from Australia, Britain and Canada were invited to the birthday bash, the Dominion Post newspaper in the capital, Wellington, reported.

“I personally had the opportunity to meet with the visiting chiefs,” Prime Minister Helen Clark said, noting that South Pacific issues had been discussed.

“They are interested in the Pacific and we discussed what is going on,” she said, without naming specific topics.

i’m sure the echelon members take turns in hosting little tea parties every couple of years. nz hosts a lovely little eavesdropping facility at waihopai, so i’m sure they were all just down to check out the nearby wineries.

as for hc, she loves bombing afghan kids and kidnapping algerian refugees, as long as it pleases the bosses (hello g, t, j and j!)
