Russian Armored Columns Said to Capture Key Ukrainian Town

Via: Washington Post:

Russian forces in two armored columns captured a key southeastern coastal town near the Russian border Thursday after Ukrainian forces retreated in the face of superior firepower, a Ukrainian military spokesman said.

The two Russian columns, including tanks and armored fighting vehicles, entered the town of Novoazovsk on the Sea of Azov after a battle in which Ukrainian army positions came under fire from Grad rockets launched from Russian territory, according to the spokesman, Col. Andriy Lysenko.

“Our border servicemen and guardsmen retreated as they did not have heavy equipment,” Lysenko said in a statement.

Ukrainian authorities have denounced the latest fighting as a Russian invasion of their territory, intended to prop up pro-Moscow separatists who have been losing ground to Ukrainian forces and to open a new front in the southeastern corner of Ukraine.

Ukrainian officials said earlier that Ukrainian troops were battling combined Russian and separatist forces on the new southern front around Novoazovsk, about eight miles west of the Russian border.

Oh please! The Washington Post as an accurate source?! Really……

The Washington Post will never print his story: President Putin has called on the self-defense militias in Ukraine to provide Kiev’s military units blocked in the east of the country with a safe humanitarian corridor to cross into Russia.
It is clear the militia has achieved a major success in intercepting Kievs military operation, which represents a grave danger to the population of Donbass and which has already led to the loss of many lives among peaceful residents, the Russian leader said in a statement.
As a result of militias counter-offense, large numbers of Ukrainian troops many of whom were taking part in Kievs so-called anti-terrorist operation against their will and just following orders have been surrounded, the President added.
I call on the militia groups to open a humanitarian corridor for Ukrainian service members who have been surrounded, so as to avoid any needless loss of life, giving them the opportunity to leave the combat area unimpeded and reunite with their families, to return them to their mothers, wives and children, and to quickly provide medical assistance to those who were injured in the course of the military operation, Putin said.

    Thanks Windhorse.

No, they will never print that. They also won’t print that “rebels” are defending themselves from foreign invaders that took over the Ukraine government in a Western sponsored coup.

Russia, China, and the BRIC countries are doing what Saddam Hussein and Gadaffi .tried to do….move away from the US-worthless-backed by nothing-reserve dollar. Only this time the Shadow Puppet Masters are looking down the barrel of a huge cannon.

I think that the West must begin to realize that Ukraine is just as important to Russia as Israel is to the U.S..

    Make no mistake about that.

Russia will enter World War III before walking away.

In a sense, Israel is just a very important U.S. military base in the Middle East, and America would enter WWIII before walking away.

Crimea is a Russian military base and has an extremely important sea port which gives Russia access to the the Mediterranean Sea and the Middle East.

However; Russia has no land access to Crimea. The only access to Crimea without crossing into Ukraine is by boat.

You can’t have a military base without having access by roadway.

This roadway or very small piece of land (sort of like a peninsula) is attached to Russia proper but is within the East or the zone of where the two sides are fighting right now.

Make no mistake, Russia is not Walking away from that “Necessary” land access especially if NATO is gonna build bases inside Ukraine proper.

Sanctions are really an act of war. Japan considered U.S. sanctions as being an act of war prior to hitting Pearl Harbor.

    Some historical context ….

Many people point to the sad history of the 1932–33 genocide in which Stalin’s regime murdered 7 million Ukrainians and sent 2 million to concentration camps. And it may well surpirse you to realize that nearly 40% of those who were in charge (the most senior posts in Stalin’s government and the Soviet security apparatuses) and who directly participated in this Ukrainian Massacre were of Jewish origin. And which was only 10 years before the holocaust carried out by Hitler against the Jews.

    Some recent history …..

This article is really, really long, but it almost reads like a Plato essay. Very well written and explained.
