Stephen Hawking and Russian Billionaire Start $100 Million Search for Aliens

July 20th, 2015

Hmm. This is Hawking back in 2010:

In a new Discovery Channel documentary, which premiered Sunday night, British astrophysicist Stephen Hawking said that communicating with aliens could be a threat to Earth.

Hawking said it is likely that alien life exists, but a visit from extraterrestrials might be similar to Christopher Columbus’ arrival in the Americas.

“If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn’t turn out well for the Native Americans,” he said. “We only have to look at ourselves to see how intelligent life might develop into something we wouldn’t want to meet.”

And now…

Via: Breakthrough Initiatives:

Yuri Milner was joined at The Royal Society today by Stephen Hawking, Martin Rees, Frank Drake, Geoff Marcy, Pete Worden and Ann Druyan to announce the unprecedented $100 million global Breakthrough Initiatives to reinvigorate the search for life in the universe.

The first of two initiatives announced today, Breakthrough Listen, will be the most powerful, comprehensive and intensive scientific search ever undertaken for signs of intelligent life beyond Earth. The second, Breakthrough Message, will fund an international competition to generate messages representing humanity and planet Earth, which might one day be sent to other civilizations.

Build it and ‘they’ will come.

As some of you know, I’m a bit of a skeptic as to the real nature of those we may be inviting to make an appearance.

I know this might sound way out there, but most of the time The Truth IS Out There

I just recently discovered this guy Miles Mathis and his work, and he’s got some real stunners that even visitors here might balk at on first glance. My suggestion would be to look at the depth of his research, review it carefully, and make up your own mind. Personally, I find his writings and research extremely compelling and convincing, FWIW. And there’s a lot more on his site to explore.

So, let’s assume Hawking isn’t Hawking, but a replacement. Would this explain why “Hawking” is now in favor of searching for aliens when in 2010 he apparently found the prospect dangerous? No, but it sure makes you wonder what the heck they’re up to with this new piece of propaganda. I could hypothesize but I’d rather just wait for the surprise ending.
