I would say that the donation was for the continuation of your independent work.
Is it ethical to run adverts AND ask for donations?
Of course it’s ethical.
It’s far more ethical than using a resource without ever doing anything to support it, which is what most Cryptogon users do.
Some people don’t want to send cash, but they wouldn’t mind buying books through Amazon. Others need web hosting and sign up with Blue Host through Cryptogon.
It’s good to give people options with how they want to help, wouldn’t you agree?
Kevin, I thought your site had been shut down. I had your old site address, https://cryptogon.com/index.html, bookmarked and when you go there you get a “404 Not Found
The requested URL /index.html does not exist.” message.
It would be a good idea to automatically forward anyone who goes to that address to your new URL.

Maybe you shouldn’t have banned people you disagree with from the now missing forum.
I truly support what you’re doing in regards to publishing the wrong doings of the government/media/corps but I don’t see the profit you make going back into the cause.

The only users I have removed from the forum were spammers. The forum isn’t missing, it’s still there. I haven’t gotten around to removing it yet. Was I supposed to check with you first before I add or remove features from my own website?

I give portions of what little I make from Cryptogon to other people who’s work I appreciate. Do you expect me to report all of these transactions to you as well?

Being an armchair activist is all well and good, but when you’re begging for money while pushing buttons, and giving/doing nothing, sorry, that just grates on me when it’s as blatant as it is here.

I haven’t removed anyone except spammers, as I said before. So far, I haven’t “been asked tough questions” about my motives, not that I feel like I’m under any obligation to respond anyway.

HA! I’m not an activist, armchair or otherwise.
Responding to you is a waste of my time, and I’ve wasted plenty of it on you in the past. I remember you now, (after checking IP addresses). See my comments to you from the forum:

You have left yourself down and shown exactly what your true motives are which are now on display for all to see.
OK lets break it down shall we?
Until very recently you refused to credit your sources (which I am to thank for, call it ‘teaching you how to do your job’ or something 😉 )
Then we have the begging for money, which in itself is OK.. but to top that by placing adverts is pure greed.
You openly admit you do not get involved with your local community, try to make changes in the REAL WORLD, you now, where it counts?
(I would be more than happy to (again) help point you in the right direction, all you have to do is ask 🙂 I have already checked the events in your area, and oh boy, you do have a lot to choose from, if you cared.)
Also:
The fact you cannot enter into debate about your actions (or lack of) and the rate at which you become defensive and down right rude demonstrate you must feel some guilt, you know you’re ripping people off. And now so do we.
Some more advice for you, I suggest you check how you manage your ‘customer relations’, insulting your readers, who have perfectly honest questions will do you no good, as you can see I have not lowered myself nor the tone of this site by hurling childish insults. My God man, if you can’t even defend yourself against me for asking simple questions what hope do you have of fighting the NWO?

Have you ever heard of the term ‘libel’? You should look it up before you screw with the wrong person. That’s my free tip to you.
However, by letting you continue to be a nuisance, it’s not fair to me, or other users.
I’ll leave your libelous, hate filled rants here as an example of what I have to tolerate from delusional, schizophrenic lunatics like you.
You are, however, finished on Cryptogon. I hope you get the medical and psychological help you require.
