California Tent City Residents Required to Wear Wristbands

March 31st, 2009

Via: Los Angeles Times:

Tent City residents gather as the city of Ontario starts the process of sorting out who may stay and who must leave. The city issued wristbands – blue for Ontario residents, who may stay, orange for people who need to provide more documentation, and white for those who must leave. The aim is to reduce the number of people living there from over 400 to 170.

Officials begin thinning out the encampment, saying the city can provide space only for those who once lived there and can prove it.

Its a damn shame that we dont do more in the states to help the homeless. We should have more programs that house/feed the homeless and get them back on their feet. I’ve noticed on the west coast in the USA there is more homeless and less people that want to help, they are treated more like caddle than human. The food banks in arizona for instance give out 4 month old frozen milk and frozen meat that smells and is outdated. The canned goods are years past expiration and the bread is just about moldy… On the east coast the food is fresh and newly donated, and the people are more caring and will help you help yourself if you want it… The best thing we can do in this country is not allow homelessness. Especially our own veterans ;(
