Interesting Vertical Hydroponic Gardening System

September 19th, 2010

This requires electricity, but not much. It might be a way for some of you—who can’t/won’t leave urban areas—to grow a lot of high quality food on a very small footprint.

The Tower Garden costs a mint, but this seems pretty easy to do as a DIY type of project.

This is just incredible, I wonder if they ship internationally?

The electricity thing doesn’t put me off but did anyone notice their “proprietary tonics” that you (continually) need to purchase from them? I wonder how long one of those tonics last for?

Otherwise looks like a fantastic idea!

You could probably use standard hydroponic nutrients.

Or, make your own out of sea water:

That’s very cool. Reminds me of my rooftop garden from four years ago before I had trees removed for an in-ground garden. While not as elegant or productive as this hydroponic system, my rooftop garden wasn’t nearly as expensive and didn’t require special nutrients. It was also fairly low-maintenance. I used Earthboxes as well as simple containers, and it was more than plentiful for my small family. Picture:
