Cryptogon Reader Contributes $100

December 31st, 2007

JW, a core Cryptogon contributor, closed out a remarkable year of reader generosity by sending $100.

Thank you.

He suggested a post about what I think might be ahead in 2008. Wow. That’s a hard one. I’ll have to put on my (tinfoil) thinking cap AND get out the famous Cryptogon Magic 8-Ball. Seriously, there are a couple of issues that are so dire that it’s difficult to imagine how they will turn out. And, yep, it’s nearly time for another U.S. Presidential (S)election circus.

I better start writing…

    Kevin,
    Notes for your prognosis.
    Things to consider while you prognositcate.
    Etcetera, etcetera, etcetera.
    Ahead for 2008?
    I also would put on my tinfoil hat if a reader asked me to do this because I am not an astrolger, economist or whateverist.
    My list for 2008 would be as follows:
    1) If you are a person of a particular religion, dogma – no matter what is – immerse yourself in a another religion. As a former Catholic I frequented many churches in the past- and all welcomed me. If you are a stay it home, play it alone lapsed Catholic, the gospel of Judas is a wake up call;HAHA HA. Jesus thought we all had our own star, and thought Judas was the only disciple that did what Jesus wanted him to do;
    ah, remember the story from the temple. You can believe in the teachings of the Catholic Church to the extent you are willing to forgive the long haired mother fucking people who need not apply who have distorted Jesus to no fucking end – how come Buddha or Krishna or Shiva haven’t been sold this same fucking bill of goods;
    2) Grow food and grow it abundantly – think of feeding several families, not just one. My garden under a grow cover, with a heat wire underneath – in 19 degree weather is rocking – I have 3 inch lettuces etc. Shit, run the wire off of a battery.
    3) Watch the movie, or read the book, “Cold Mountain.” Will learn you in many things. Take it as you will.
    4) Beware of Darkness. Aargh. What to say. Well I’d say buy a “Happy Light,” but that sounds so uh, downer. You know that consumerism thang.
    But shurely. Give us light.

    @Eileen,

    I can’t speak for Krishna or Shiva, but as an ex-born-again-Christian (ahhh – it *does* feel good to say that – but do you have a better term for it? Unborn Christian?) and an ex-dabbler-in-Buddhism, I have to say I found common elements in both. More specifically, money. I think in essence, religions always begin with good intentions, and end up stealing money from the people who need it. Visit a Buddhist temple in North America and ask a monk to pray for you. How much does it cost?

    Power is a horrible thing. I think in 2008 we should concentrate our efforts on abolishing power. TRUE equality would be nice.

    (I’m aware that the two components to my comment above aren’t really related – but think about it.. they are related, in a way. Or maybe it’s the whiskey again. My resolution for the new year is to drink more whiskey.)
