Update: Gunbattle, Three People Confirmed Dead Including Hostage Taker Man Monis

Three people are confirmed dead, including gunman Man Monis, after a hostage situation in Sydney ended in a hail of gunfire.
The self-styled Muslim cleric, who took the group of people hostage yesterday morning, was confirmed dead early today, along with two other people, believed to be hostages.
Police confirmed the 50-year-old gunman died when police stormed the building about 2am.

Australian security forces opened fire on Tuesday as they stormed the Sydney café where several hostages were being held at gunpoint, in a dramatic end to a standoff that had dragged on for more than 16 hours.

Witnesses described how a man wearing a headband covered in Arabic walked into the Lindt cafe in Martin Place and produced a shotgun from a blue bag at around 9.45am.
Shortly afterwards hostages were seen with their hands pressed against the windows holding up the Shahada flag belonging to the extremist group Jabhat al-Nusra, which is fighting the Assad government in Syria.

Once again an incident occurs not long after far reaching “anti-terror” legislation is passed. Now the NZ pm says this is the kind of thing they had in mind here when passing warrentless spying in peoples houses. I expect this is the type of thing the cia had in mind when they facilitated, at a distance, the hostage situation in Sydney. Soon the whole fucking “Western world” will be up to its eyeballs in terror legislation, bombings, hostages & more dead. We are headed for George Orwell’s 1984 pretty damned quick.
