Trump Tells Business Leaders He Wants to Cut Regulations by 75% or ‘Maybe More’

January 23rd, 2017

Via: CNBC:

President Donald Trump on Monday told a range of business leaders that he believes his administration can cut regulations by 75 percent or “maybe more.”

At the White House with 10 senior executives, he repeated his campaign pledges to roll back rules on companies, arguing that they have “gotten out of control.” A White House spokesman did not immediately respond to a request to comment on which rules Trump will specifically target or how the 75 percent was calculated.

TPP (for the US) looks pretty dead and buried.

I’d really like to see Chaffetz and Gowdys’s congressional oversight commission given some real teeth, on the surface these actions seem like pretty good news.

Anyone who doesn’t see this proposal as an environmental and human rights catastrophe “in the making” is dreaming. I’m happy that TPP is dead and buried, but Trump’s cabinet picks tell the story of an administration that has simply cut out all the “political class” middlemen, to simply hire career lobbyists, donors, and Heritage foundation think tank goons so that they can begin the project of dismantling anything that still worked to serve the public interest within the federal system. Americans might be wearing surgical masks like the Chinese, if this proposal goes through.
