FBI Whistleblower Sibel Edmonds Subpoenaed, Set to ‘Break’ Gag Order Unless DoJ Intercedes

August 7th, 2009

Via: Brad Blog:

Unless the Dept. of Justice re-invokes their twice-invoked “state secrets privilege” claim in order to once again gag former FBI translator-turned-whistleblower Sibel Edmonds, her attorneys have notified the department by hand-delivered, sworn letter of declaration [PDF] this week, that she intends to give a deposition, open to the media [Updated: see bottom of article for details], in response to a subpoena this Saturday in Washington D.C..

Edmonds has confirmed her intentions to answer any questions asked of her during the sworn proceedings, fully and publicly, during conversations with The BRAD BLOG this week. She notes that her agreement with her former employer, the FBI — who fired her illegally after she filed whistleblower allegations about corruption and foreign infiltration in the linguistics department — includes certain non-disclosure requirements. However, those requirements do not preclude her answering to a legally issued court subpoena.

Oh, for the love of G-d, I hope she doesn’t
“fall into a depression” over “legal and
    financial problems” and “commit suicide”.

I expect Eric Holder to jump in and “Do The
Right Thing” and spike the testimony.

(2 pts if you get the pun.)

But…in all seriousness, I hope the
    PTB don’t suicide her.

  2. AHuxley says:

Costas Tsalikidis, the Greek telco whistleblower who was found hanged.
Adamo Bove head of security at Telecom Italia who exposed the CIA renditions via cell phones ‘fell’ to his death.
Deborah Jeane Palfrey, the D.C. Madam was found hanged.

It might be ok if the news is about some old iran contra decade politician now well out of office? S/He might just have a deep understanding for the nuclear, chemical and biological military industrial import/export needs of Turkey, Pakistan, South Africa and Israel.

It could played down as simply “helping’ friendly nations”, as the US has always done. Some poor former politician/bureaucrat who was respected by both sides just using their rolodex when out of office. Friends helping friends helping contractors upgrade legally exported US equipment….

  3. Miraculix says:

Do I still get those two points if I decide to remain to the Lee-ward side of the whole issue, RMOHANX?

Color me cynical and call me Spike, but I see debutante Sibel Edmonds finally being allowed her “coming out” party in the media as a clear act of “differentiation”: as in, she’s about to out a scapegoat or system of iniquity that existed under the “previous administration”, by way of fooling the general populace in the USSA once again. Won’t get fooled again? Hardly.

And what are they demonstrating to those hopeless souls completely under the modern media spell?

Under current management, things really have changed, see?

In music industry lingo, this is her “big break”. Her chance to audition for the label. Sibel Edmonds is a perfect poster girl for the new boss sitting in front of the “same old” team of motivated lieutenants and crusty old field operatives for the PTB currently managing the DC mob. She’s gorgeous, intelligent, articulate and best of all: she’s got “truth for sale”.

So, now that she can finally be used in an appropriate role, she’s getting her fifteen minutes on the BIG stage. And if she sings the right song and hits all the right high notes, she’ll get her pass to the next level. Just like Greg Palast, John Pilger and every other “truth seeker” guarding the fringes of acceptable conversation. This is her initiation, her trial by fire. And as ever, it’s produce or perish.

We’ll know she didn’t play the right tune if she’s found slumped over the breakfast table in the next couple months, victim of a completely unexpected brain hemmorage, the victim of a tragic skiing accident, or similar.

  4. RMOHANX says:

    Four points! Nicely done, Miraculix.

Speaking of unexpected brain hemorrhages, perhaps they could just catch her up on her missed vaccinations. All at once. I’d say 90 inoculations should guarantee nothing could survive inside of her.

Chances are not good for her. Obama is re-tightening the screws around “whistleblower” just in past few days, perhaps coincidentally.

What I don’t understand (being a total rube) is why these people with BUCKETS of information (Palfrey is a very notable example) don’t make copies and or share with friends and or write deadman letters or…otherwise release the friggin information. *sigh*

    Hi,

Can be a hard call to make, possession of said info or the thought of possession of said info can made powerful men and woman ask for wide set of fast ‘solutions’

In some parts of the world lawyers *have* to tell if its national security related.

Press also seem to like to tell all out of patriotism, fear, charges or $ slide after been totally cut off.

If your phone is bugged, your laptop has a few soft/hardware keyloggers and your car has a 24/7 escort ?

Counterintelligence Field Activity types shows up at all your events ?

If you get the info out it can be very life saving.
The state has to arrest you, but your name is in the press and your new lawyer can keep tabs on you.
They can lose your paper work and give you “Diesel therapy” as you move around for many weeks, but long term, you are a known known.
Like with apartheid and 1970-80’s Soviet era humans rights activists you glow very bright in the system.
If the feds try to smear, they to to leak sensitive docs, then it opens investigations into the counter leak.

The state is left with two options ignore/ridiculing or going Stasi and hoping fear of leaking stops you before you leak.

  6. James D says:

Miraculix, I reckon that you’re on the money!

I’d take everything that comes from Sibel Edmonds with a very large dose of salt!

    Well explained here:-
