Dead Farmers Got $1.1 Billion from USDA
July 24th, 2007Via: MSNBC:
The U.S. Department of Agriculture distributed $1.1 billion over seven years to the estates or companies of deceased farmers and routinely failed to conduct reviews required to ensure that the payments were properly made, according to a government report.
In a selection of 181 cases from 1999 to 2005, the Government Accountability Office found that officials approved payments without any review 40 percent of the time.
The report cited a 1,900-acre soybean and corn farm in Illinois that collected $400,000 on behalf of an owner who lived in Florida before his death in 1995. The company did not notify the government of the death but certified each year that the dead shareholder, who owned 40 percent of the company, was “actively engaged” in managing the farm.

Oh my gosh. I think I”m either going to go into a kinnipshun fit, or, well I guess I’ll YAWN a few times instead. GAO- YAWN. Agriculture bill- DOUBLE YAWN. A YAWN for me is a suppression of oxygen- perhaps a denial of anger and other feelings. I love the GAO. They were the first government entity to put Cheney’s nuts in a sling re his energy policy. DOUBLE YAWN. They lost that round. Oh the life of an auditor. You can prove fraud, waste, abuse, the UTTER WASTE of so much money it BLOWS MY FREAKING MIND. But the system is set up so that the annointed guy at the top must agree with audit recommendations. If they don’t? Screw you auditors. Pay them! So solly. We like what we’re doing and if you don’t screw you freakin auditors and shut your big fat mouths shut. Nancy Pelosi sheesh. She just PUNTED big time on the agriculture bill, and in my mind, she hasn’t yet reached the stature in the game where she is on the ten yard line and can call a punt.
Okay. I’m getting into swear mode here. Better call it a night.
They got caught doing something illegal, so, they are going to pay ALL the money back, right?
This shit has got to stop. Time to open the fourth box…
