Womb-on-a-Chip May Boost IVF Successes

Via: New Scientist:

Can conception, the most intimate of human experiences, be automated?

Teruo Fujii of the University of Tokyo in Japan and his colleagues are building a microfluidic chip to nurture the first stages of pregnancy. They hope, eventually, to create a fully automated artificial uterus in which egg and sperm are fed in at one end and an early embryo comes out the other, ready for implanting in a real mother. They say using such a device could improve the success rate of IVF.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but wouldn’t that mean you would already have the genetic material of two parents, and you could just use a third carrier person to birth the child?

    You can already do that:

Old hat; I’m holding out for the fully robotic womb. It’s gonna be awesome.

Since the most basic, human biological functions are being synthesized these days, and marketed as just another service “consumers” want and therefore are entitled to, why don’t they just cut to the chase and start cloning gorgeous, blond Scandanavian women, with fully functioning sexual/reproductive capabilities, and let guys buy them from a mail-order catalog.

This is a very inspiring story for someone like me who has always wanted to become a dad but sad to say I’m single because I have not been so lucky with relationship. IVF is my last hope to become a real dad that’s why I’m searching for a perfect IVF mum (preferably an Australian like me) who would be interested in pregnancy using IVF treatment method, someone who also desires a child.
