The writing is on the wall for old school circuit-switched phone networks, and the world is going all-IP. Now, the FCC is gathering data to guide the next major transition of the country’s communications network.

    odd subject, odd history. which i suppose was why i found it a fascinating book. the perspective too, perhaps. (i’ll never see minnie pearl in the same light again.) especially so though when it got into the background of the FCC…

    the book gives that Indie vs. Corporacracy aspect a greater context. it was a pivotal time. things could have gone a different road. a freer, less commercial road where the airwaves, and their technological descendents, weren’t so commoditized. maybe.
