Airport Body Scanning Raises Radiation Exposure
February 5th, 2010Via: Bloomberg:
Air passengers should be made aware of the health risks of airport body screenings and governments must explain any decision to expose the public to higher levels of cancer-causing radiation, an inter-agency report said.
Pregnant women and children should not be subject to scanning, even though the radiation dose from body scanners is “extremely small,” said the Inter-Agency Committee on Radiation Safety report, which is restricted to the agencies concerned and not meant for public circulation. The group includes the European Commission, International Atomic Energy Agency, Nuclear Energy Agency and the World Health Organization.
A more accurate assessment about the health risks of the screening won’t be possible until governments decide whether all passengers will be systematically scanned or randomly selected, the report said. Governments must justify the additional risk posed to passengers, and should consider “other techniques to achieve the same end without the use of ionizing radiation.”
President Barack Obama has pledged $734 million to deploy airport scanners that use x-rays and other technology to detect explosives, guns and other contraband. The U.S. and European countries including the U.K. have been deploying more scanners at airports after the attempted bombing on Christmas Day of a Detroit-bound Northwest airline flight.

“Pregnant women and children should not be subject to scanning…”
Shit! If we can’t scan ’em, I guess there’s only one thing left: shoot ’em! Only way to be SAFE!
On a recent trip, TSA requested that volunteer to enter the scanner. I declined and opted for the pat down instead. However, while I was getting the pat down, I made sure to say “That thing causes cancer!” to everyone else whom they tried to put in the machine.
This caused a nice little backup on the hand-frisking line as everyone I said that to declined to enter the machine as well. I was honestly surprised that they didn’t try to shut me up, though they did give me some hard looks.
Along with the “It causes cancer!” comments I was barraging the TSA frisker with homosexual come-ons. (“No, there are no sore spots on my body, but there are some place that swell when rubbed.” “If you want a date, just ask.” “You have strong hands.” etc) They got me through the line and on my way very quickly. Much more quickly than I imagined they would, in fact.
Let’s not forget the reason we even have this body scanning gaining any traction is because of the phony “underwear bomber”. What a joke. Same with the “shoe bomber”, both were psyops with no real chance of success as an act of terrorism. There was never any danger with either one of these hopeless patsies. Anyone with a little discernment can see the goal is to tighten the screws and accustom people to giving up more and more freedom. Real terrorists wouldn’t bother with a single plane. Think about it, we are supposed to believe that a person smart enough to be politically motivated to commit an act of terrorism isn’t smart enough to set off his shoe bomb/underwear bomb in the bathroom instead of in front of everybody. Real terrorists would and could crash our electrical grid in the dead of winter. Why do people fall for this shit?
