CIA Propaganda Strategies for Western Europe on Afghanistan

March 27th, 2010

Via: WikiLeaks:

This classified CIA analysis from March, outlines possible PR-strategies to shore up public support in Germany and France for a continued war in Afghanistan. After the dutch government fell on the issue of dutch troops in Afghanistan last month, the CIA became worried that similar events could happen in the countries that post the third and fourth largest troop contingents to the ISAF-mission. The proposed PR strategies focus on pressure points that have been identified within these countries. For France it is the sympathy of the public for Afghan refugees and women. For Germany it is the fear of the consequences of defeat (drugs, more refugees, terrorism) as well as for Germany’s standing in the NATO. The memo is an recipe for the targeted manipulation of public opinion in two NATO ally countries, written by the CIA. It is classified as Confidential / No Foreign Nationals.

For the first time in over 60 years, I am ashamed to have to admit that I am an American. We have killed tens of thousands of innocent men, women and child civilians in Afghanistan. This is a failed operation that will make us less safe than we were on September 20, 2001.

Or it is a successful operation, in that it has dramatically upped the black ops revenue flowing from the nation-state called Afghanistan, keeps the demand curve loaded for the armament manufacturers and their supply chains and serves to polarize the occidental populations in question — as well as providing spectacular avenues for psy-op loading on said same populations.

You’re not thinking like a lizard Larry.

In those sixty years, how exactly did you also miss out on the well-documented histories of US-backed and/or executed genocide committed over and over again during the last century or so?

Or the eradication of the native American populations standing in the way of the 19th Century American flavor of “manifest destiny”?

It’s just same old song and dance. Deep down, for as long as I’ve been sentient enough to be aware of such events, I’ve NEVER been proud to be an American. Not that such prickly subjects come up frequently in conversation with other Americans.

The occasional foreign national here in Europa who can color outside the prescribed/proscribed lines drawn by media channels — from schoolbooks on up — typically expresses surprise or outright shock at my attitudes, once revealed. Not that there’s much opportunity for such revelation either.

And you say “failed operation” as if “success” in military terms was a genuine objective, in lieu of standard cannon fodder procedures and the ongoing militarization and brain-washing of the Great White West. But this is all just a bunch of “conspiracy talk”, right Larry?
