HA! Keep that in mind as you place your belt and your shoes in the plastic bin.

Via: USA Today:

Security screeners at two of the nation’s busiest airports failed to find fake bombs hidden on undercover agents posing as passengers in more than 60% of tests last year, according to a classified report obtained by USA TODAY.

Screeners at Los Angeles International Airport missed about 75% of simulated explosives and bomb parts that Transportation Security Administration testers hid under their clothes or in carry-on bags at checkpoints, the TSA report shows.

LAX security = lax security. The jokes just write themselves these days, don’t they? 😀

The Chicago Tribune published a similar story on the O’Hare airport screeners.

I was in LAX this summer waiting for my wife to return from dropping off my daughter at the gate. I had a chance to observe and overhear the people trying to move the people through the check-in. I’m glad I have this chance to say that the people I observed, especially one take-charge supervisor, performed their duties with patience and respect towards the travelers–even the annoying ones–and only minimal, begrudging attention to the absurd “security” rules in place at airports. Kudos to the LAX airport workers, something I never thought I’d say in my wildest dreams.
