BP Remains Key Pentagon Fuel Supplier
July 5th, 2010So it goes…

Despite its role in the Gulf of Mexico oil spill, energy giant BP remains a key supplier of fuel to the Pentagon, The Washington Post reported.
Citing data from the Defense Logistics Agency, the newspaper said BP had contracts with the US Defense Department worth at least 980 million dollars in the current fiscal year.
In fiscal 2009, BP was the Pentagon’s largest single supplier of fuel, providing 11.7 percent of the total purchased, and in 2010, its contracts amount to roughly the same percentage, the report said.
The paper quoted BP spokesman Robert Wine as saying he was aware of at least one “big contract” signed by the US military after the oil rig explosion on April 20 that led to the largest environmental disaster in US history.

Yes, right. So it goes.
Just like with Haliburton. Key contracts, major audit findings ranging from Bosnia to Iraq and every time, those questioned costs were “magically allowed” by the Contracting Officer. And the Defense Contract Audit Agency wonders why no one wants to work there (Jobs are open indefinitely on the USA JObs website for DCAA contract auditors).
BP is going to be the same kind of animal. They will be found to be doing “no harm” and they will be paid on their Defense Dept. contract til the cows come home. Think there is going to be a cancelled contract, fine, or penalty for this oil spill?
Methinks, and am pretty SURE NOT. Especially when DOD has them as their supplier. Pitiful. Sad.
This oil spill is NOTHING OF INTEREST as far as DOD is concerned. Just supply them with their freaking oil for wars and everyone is HAPPY. Except for people in Texas smelling oil in the rain fer christ’s sake.
There’s something wrong with the picture when the perpetrator of a crime just keeps on raking in the money when they have done such harm.
Same as it ever was.
