Next week at Siggraph in LA, Sony will be demonstrating the prototype of a new 360º Autostereoscopic display. The display allows you to view full colour volumetric objects from all angles, as if objects really exist. The display uses special LED light forces and can show 360 unique images to all directions in 1º separations.

It looks like we are getting closer to the invisibility cloak. All is needed now is to develop smaller cameras and thats pretty much it. Maybe some of you read about that “fiber camera” from last year ( http://spie.org/x36993.xml?ArticleID=x36993) wich is basicly a clothe that can film without any need for lense.
Now combine what you see in this video with the fiber camera technology: you have a camera that can see 360 degrees and “tv” that can display different images according to your point of view. So just display what’s on the other side of the object and you hided it.
Sure both of those thech are in their early phase, but give it maybe 15 years and I woudn’t be surprise to hear about a “new” military technology that can cloak tanks..
