Illegal Immigrants Account for 8% of U.S. Newborns
August 16th, 2010Via: Bloomberg:
As many as 340,000 of the 4.3 million babies born in the U.S. in 2008 had at least one parent who was an illegal immigrant, according to a Pew Hispanic Center study of Census Bureau data.
Unauthorized immigrants, who make up a little more than 4 percent of the population, are for the most part young and have high birth rates, according to the Pew study. Their children make up 8 percent of the newborn population and 7 percent of those under 18.

WEll geez, isn’t it shocking. There’s a wall of names on Ellis Island ( including my grandparents) maternal and paternal who have there names on the wall at Ellis Island. But their names are only there because a cousin of mine made a long drive to raise funds to get named on the wall.
Lsst summmer or spring, I dunno, (I’m still in grieving hell) my sister and went to NYC. It’s going to be a long time before I get over Mom. A long time. But I’m not dead yet.
It is embarrassing to me that this shit is hitting the fan with all of the paranoid, scitzophirencs who have nothing better to do with their time than assauult other human beings. Give me a forking break.
I don’t care if 50% of people in the U/S are immigrants. Both of my maternal and fratneral grandpanents got off of a boat on Ellis Island. So don’t mess with me. I am “hunkY” through and through,
And you nut jobs out there making immigration an issue get a flecking grip on your own life. Where did your parents, parents come from? Do you even know? And my gosh, what if we found out the native American Indians drove someone else off the planet?
Just shut the fluck up for 5 minutes. Everyone.
And think about the trajecory of our thoughts. We do our ansectors a great dis-service. How about bringing down the volume, turning the tv and intenet off, reading the book we always wanted to, lets just bring it down, dowwn, down.
Whether someone is for or against illegal immigration, when a state has an inability to control its borders, that’s a big warning that the state is on the way to failed state status.*
Demographic pressure is a huge contributing factor to states failing. In response to the illegal immigration situation along the U.S./Mexico border, we’re seeing American paramilitary groups stepping into a role that is traditionally performed by the government.
* Now, as anyone with even half a brain knows, the U.S. could easily stop illegal immigration if it wanted to. Here are the reasons why I believe it is allowed to continue:
– Companies benefit from having a vast supply of desperate people on hand who are willing to work for whatever low wages are on offer.
– The increasing social and economic chaos will get average people thinking positively about things like national ID cards. As usual, the average person will get it wrong and blame illegal immigrants for every problem under the sun. The illegal immigrants, of course, are just being used as tools for profit and kabuki theater by the elite.
Note how there is popular support in Arizona for the fascist “papers please” policy that allows the police to stop people and demand identification for purposes of checking immigration status.
– U.S. Government collects free money, in the form of Social Security deductions, that will never be claimed by illegals. (In other cases, illegals work for cash and pay no state or federal income taxes. States tax their own citizens to pay for health care, education and incarceration of illegals. These public funds are paid, increasingly, to private corporations that are tasked with dealing with social issues that result from large, poor illegal alien populations.)
– Providing absurdly priced financial services to working poor, unbanked illegal aliens is a multi billion dollar industry.
– Mexico has been a quasi failed state for decades. What prevents it from tipping completely over? The pressure release valve to the north.
The diabolical American and Mexican elites are all on the same page when it comes to screwing Mexicans over to the extent possible. Having the pressure relief valve to the north keeps wages at slave levels in Mexico, while allowing the most desperate of all a chance of escape.
Cheap corn imports from the U.S. destroyed local agricultural economies and drove people into the waiting arms of corporations looking for wage slaves (See: Zapatistas). Monsanto GM corn is destroying the traditional heirloom varieties of corn used for subsistence. The situation is almost unbelievably grim (See: The World According to Monsanto).
As with many things that are wrong with the U.S. and elsewhere, ask yourself, who benefits from illegal immigration?
@Kevin;
I agree w/ your points; Mexico in particular (although there are numerous other sources of undocumented aliens from around the world in the U.S…) is an obvious narco-terrorist country with no effective gov’t and this seems to have been the goal w/ CIA/DEA subversion and NAFTA…being from Tx., Mexican labor is common and prevalent for virtually all construction, labor, and agricultural jobs, and even into indoor grocery, restaurant, bar, warehouse, factory positions…the availability of the labor source keeps wages down but not necessarily slave-labor level; this does seem to influence most gringos to turn away from this work because “wetbacks” do it…I will say the wage levels are low enough that it would be difficult for the “average” young American single/married person to subsist on, which leads to that mind-set that most young people won’t even try those jobs, content to stay at home w/ Mom and/ or Dad, waiting for ‘something better’, whatever that is…
Just a quick note; a friend’s son dropped out of college w/ the idea of joining the Air Force…due to the failing economy, he was turned away because enlistment has grown to the point they no longer have the ‘help wanted’ sign out…this is A/F, though…they have always been pretty picky…
I estimate the damage done by high-value immigrants (meaning doctors, technology-wise ppl) higher than any rowdy not working in America/Europe with a immigrational background. Brain drain harms where it can harm the most.
Funny that EU-law killed Switzerlands high wages and not decades long immigration. Because mostly Polaks and Teutons went here with the expectation to work, not to earn. Those from the 70ies, 80ies came here to work and earn for a full year and going back during winter. Not every time “illegals” or a larger part of society are to blame, there are intelligent, organized forces working.
Kevin, about the Monsanto corn: I partially blame the indigenous ppl themselves, because not (yet) robots are coming and planting it, they plant it themselves. I know that there is big agribusiness in Mexico too, but why do they change the crop in the Mountains? If Monsanto can harm indigenous spechies, then indigenous ppl are helping it, I suppose. (?) Maybe here too, we have some specialized harmful elite…
pretty much all of latin america has been used and abused by the US Empire for the past 110 years. an endless onslaught of military coup d’état, dictators, more coups, more dictators, death squads, torture, rape, exploitation, resource grabs, economic warfare, sweatshops, de-agrarianisation, blockades, invasions, assassinations, chemical warfare, narco-warfare, repeated over and over. in dozens of countries. so the fact that a lot of people have fled their own devastated countries and regions and many have ended up in the US is hardly surprising. the lucky ones save some money from the pittance they are paid to send home to family and some have children in the US. as Kevin says, if the US Oligarchs wanted to stop this it would have ended decades ago. but they don’t so it doesn’t. and what are the consequences? well, i think it will be relatively neutral once the US economy collapses into a heap. a lot of the immigrants will go home. most of them will be a lot more resourceful about surviving in dodgy circumstances than most US-born people. they are used to surviving in very difficult situations. they are generally less psychologically dependent on someone else sorting things out. but yes, the gun-toting sofa jockeys will use the immigrants as scapegoats according to a tried and true formula. that will be the ugly part. but when all of the manual labour gets up and leaves, or ceases to co-operate, what then, for the bigot brigade? mmmm
Been thinking about how this works. In US history, those with the money, now named TPTB, used to buy and import slaves from Africa to pick cotton, tobacco, etc. Bought and paid for slave labor and that was profitable until the Civil War shut that avenue of cheap labor costs down. Don’t know how many other avenues the TPTB have used to keep their costs of labor down in the meantime, but surely, encouraging illegal immigration, as well as off shoring jobs to Vietnam, Taiwan, Mexico, Malasia, China, ad nasauem. A corporation going offshore for cheal labor, in my mind, eqates to something similar to slavery. When the labor is treated as a means to the end of corporate profit, that to me, is slavery of the kind practiced here in the U.S.
I’m not against nations across the world growing and prospering. Not at all. But I don’t want that seeming prosperity built on the back of all of the new slaves TPTB has created.
