Neem: A Tree for Solving Global Problems
October 18th, 2010I was reading this book and finding a lot of information that I could use. I’m sure that all of you will find something of interest as well: Neem: A Tree for Solving Global Problems, National Research Council, 1992.
Don’t miss Appendix B! Wow.
Free version on Google, including PDF

I admit i read only the headline, but “tree” and “global solution” in a geographical sense is geoengineering. Just as spraying sulfur, cooling the ocean or irrigation in the desert, it will have huge side effects. Invasive species warp the ecological space into new forms, deleting niches and creating new ones, totally unpredictibly.
But maybe we finally reached the point where earth is becoming a garden. I can accept that, but only if there are more gardeners who know what they are doing.
i can’t speak to its ability to solve “global” problems, but neem is totally amazing in terms of medicinal and personal/household uses. heals skin issues (bug bites, burns, infections, rashes, basically anything) like nobody’s business. it’s a great natural pesticide and fungicide for the garden. neem oil creams are used as natural spermicide. i’ve even read some mysterious reports that it is successful as 6-month duration male sterilization via tiny injections into the scrotum…
my medicine cabinet ALWAYS contains a nice little bottle of neem oil.
