Congressional officials say the Obama administration is readying plans to participate in a no-fly zone in Libya with the help of Arab countries in anticipation of a United Nations Security Council resolution.

These officials said Thursday they expected the effort to enforce a no-fly zone and ground Moammar Gadhafi’s air force could begin within a few days if the UN takes action by day’s end.

They spoke after a briefing for members of the Senate.

Update at 7:02 p.m. ET: Egypt is shipping weapons and ammunition to Libyan rebels, the Wall Street Journal is reporting, citing U.S. and rebel officials.

The shipments, mostly assault rifles and ammunition, are apparently the first known instances of an outside government arming the rebels, who have been losing ground to Moammar Gadhafi’s forces.

The Journal says the shipments are occurring with the knowledge of the Obama administration.

Interesting timing, I wonder why they waited until the ‘rebels’ are almost defeated….

Over the weeks of the Middle East uprisings, I learned that declaring a “no fly zone” is an act of war. Because to have a “no-fly-zone” you have to destroy all of Libya’s aeronautical defense systems. This is an ACT OF WAR. Destroying another countries property.
As I mutter under my breath and shake my head, my heart is heavy with sorrow. When are these “flu++ckers” going to just say, STOP IT.
Oh my Gawd, isn’t there enough stress on the planet and people who exist on world right now re Japan without NATO starting another war?
Those who voted yes have LOST their inner compass.
Oh well, how could we tell them this is the WORST time of ever to start another war?
    Saturday- SuperMoon
Sunday – Full Moon and Spring Equinox
These events in ordinary times are stressful enough for the planet.
I for one, took all of my crystals out into the sun and moonlight with salt water to recharge them and will use them in a Spring Equinox ritual on Sunday. If I can’t stop the morons who think war is the answer to everything, at least I can send and create energy to heal. This is our world and universe too. And if she shakes and quakes well, we have to learn to accept that and do our best to be here now.
