Schumer Calls for ‘Do Not Ride’ List for Trains

May 9th, 2011

Via: CBS:

Sen. Charles Schumer is calling for better rail security now that the raid on Osama bin Laden’s compound has turned up plans to attack trains in the U.S.

“Anyone, even a member of al-Qaida could purchase a train ticket and board an Amtrak train without so much as a question asked,” Schumer said. “So that’s why I’m calling for the creation of an Amtrak no ride list. That would take the secure flight program and apply it to Amtrak trains.”

Do they realize what a disaster it would be to limit fluids on the trains? The trains run about 45mph through beautiful countryside, and people can hop on with their bags of food, their babies and toddlers, and enjoy a 16-48hr trip to another city. You are allowed to get off for 15 min at stops every couple of hours and smoke, buy coffee and food at a stand etc. If you blocked luggage, baby bottles, smoke breaks, the whole system would break down

“Anyone, even a member of al-Qaida, could purchase a carton of ice cream without so much as a question asked. So that’s why I’m calling for the creation of an ice cream no buy list. That would take the secure flight program and apply it to frozen dairy desserts.”

    This madness knows no bounds.

Maybe mister Schumer should go outside and see that there is thousand of kilometers of “unsecure” railroad network. He would then realise that the best way to blow a train is by planting a bomb on the railroad instead of bording it.

That being said, I am pretty sure this guy is not an idiot. It is blatantly obvious that the real goal of those security measures (including planes, internet, etc) is targeted at the American people. It is just sad that there is still some (a lot) poeple left to cheer this guy. On a positive note, I read more and more comments on main stream website from people who no longer buy the bullshit.
Also, last week even a university teacher I know though that all the events surrounding the Bin Laden “death” was really fishy. That was pretty awesome to hear coming from him. So I guess there is still a little bit hope left if the elite push too much too fast.

I’m surprised it took them this long to contemplate doing something about it. Weren’t they around in the 70’s, with all those run-away train movies. “Oh my gosh, the train is coming! It’s going to crash into [big city]! We can’t stop it! Oh look, we got someone on the train! Oh thank god, he saved the day!”

Just imagine if every member of al-Qaeda bought tickets and got on a train. They might all get from New York to Los Angeles in as little as 67 hours (according to the Amtrak site). Dear god, the hell they could wreak by being allowed to travel so quickly!

    {sigh}

Maybe they’re haphazardly working their way through this list…

I still have a bigger fear of what Americans can do. They’ve been responsible for the largest terror attacks in the world, killing the most people, for quite a long time now. Their terrorists range from Daniel Rolling killing off college kids, to being the only country to drop not one but two nuclear bombs just to show “we have bigger bombs than anyone”.

In the last 50 How many countries has al-Qaeda invaded and committed wholesale slaughter of the inhabitants, regardless of the label or reasoning behind it?

I guess ole Charlie has never ridden on a train in his poor ass life. What a moron. Hey, Charlie what if I want to ride a train instead on a plane to avoid the Fukashima radiation dosage? Are you jealous cause those friendly folks at the TSA can’t feel me up and you can’t watch the video?
These guys in suits up there on Capital Hill have to get there stories straight. Even though I personally think/feel Osama passed on A LONG TIME AGO when are these people on Capital Hill going to go INTO MOURNING?
I for one think that the WHOLE story on Osama being killed is the story for the populace to come to grips with the need for this bankrupt to reign this War on Terror bullshit in. Enough already. All you folks that have been having a oarty terrorizing people have been sent a message. The war on terror is over.
But then there’s Charlie Shumer bleating like a baby goat. He hasn’t gotten enough of the USA Mother’s teat.
Well baby, the teat is dry. Try the other side my Dad said to my Mom.
I guess there must have been something there because that’s all I remember.
If you are turning Republican Charlie, you better go somewhere and get some live blood cell analysis done. That might shut you up or scare you so much you never utter another gdarn word.

meant to say bankrupt Nation, and party instead of oarty.
    And @JWSmythe – I like the way you’re thinking.
In the last 50 (years) How many countries has al-Qaeda invaded and committed wholesale slaughter of the inhabitants, regardless of the label or reasoning behind it?
Answer: NONE. So, snort. The Terrorist mayhem threat I think is in its last gasp. It’s not Al Queda but people within our government who are going to lose a LOT OF INCOME if we don’t keep pumping people to be frightened. Very Frightened.
    All the time. 24/7.
Yes, indeed. I think it will be the Contracting Officers at XE aka Blackwater that are shitting their pants, FINALLY. Where is our revenue going to come from? They know that their big milk cow has gone dry. Hide and watch for the next big disaster. They are pumping and priming us for an occurence on the New Madrid fault. Ture, the last disaster took place when the planets are in the same position that they are in now.
But we grown as a species in intelligence since then. I say don’t add fuel to their disaster capitalism energy.
Hold to the light and be not afraid.
    Fear feeds the moron/ignoramus agenda.
Time to get into the Zen zone.
This post is probably more a message to me than to you.
I think that there has been a fly over tick infestation in my personal zone. I have found SEVEN ticks on my neck and scalp in the last month. I have lived on and off this property for almost 57 years, with ONE tick in this whole time span. Now within the past month I find I can’t go outside without finding a tick embedded on my skin. Try to kill me with Lyme disease now will you? There’s something wrong with this picture. Totally wrong. Can’t figure what the fluck is up.
I’m going to be crushing garlic and spraying over the weekend.
I will not let these bugs scare me away from going outside but gosh darn it.
What the fluck is going on here?
Has Dick Cheney let his last gasp dogs in the form of ticks out? GROSS.
