Israeli Military Murders Gaza Mother in Front of Her Children

The UN is demanding an investigation into how the Israeli military killed one of its Palestinian school teachers by blasting open the front door of her Gaza home with explosives in the presence of three of her children.

Wafer Shaker al Daghma, 34, a teacher at a local UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) elementary school, was killed last Wednesday as she stood preparing to open the wooden door of her home to the troops. According to UNRWA and relatives who found her body, the military used an explosive device on the door which blew most of her head from her body. They then confined the traumatised children – aged from two to 13 – for five hours while the body lay outside the door of the room where they were held.

As long as one side is designated “terrorist” and the other side is designated “terrorist fighter”, we’ll see this kind of horror. “Dehumanizing the enemy”, as the Nazis knew, is the first step in wiping out a race.

Just did a search of google news, only the Independent (among the mainstream news sources) mentions this incident. What a shock, huh?

I’ve been reading this post for about 3 days now and haven’t been able to bring myself to comment.
    Someone might think thank goodness.
My sister died at her home under peaceful conditions. As two adults, my brother-in-law and I cared for her body. She laid at home in state while visitors later attended the wake. Of course, the mortuary where we finally shipped her body to was appalled that we hadn’t embalmed her from the get go.
The only reason I write this is that this story is describes an atrocity, a trauma for these children, that will be with them for the rest of their lives.
I’ve lived with the loss of family members through a car accident and cancer. And I’m traumatized!
I cannot imagine what having their mother’s head blown off – and then being sealed off her body on the other side of a door will do to the souls and spirits of these children. I cannot imagine myself being sealed off from grieving and holding my loved one after death.
HOw long can this go on? 60 years of pounding on the Palestenians is long enough.
Having said so, I suppose Michael Chertoff will become my new boyfriend, er, a person who will henceforth invade my life unwanted. Ugh. I hate Skeletore’s.
