New Zealand: Keep MMP

November 1st, 2011

There are some very dangerous crooks in New Zealand who want to get rid of MMP. Don’t let that happen.

Via: Campaign for MMP:

At the 2011 general election New Zealanders will be asked to vote on whether to keep MMP as our voting system. MMP is the fairest and most representative voting system available to New Zealanders. Let’s keep MMP and make it even better!

I’ve been wondering why there was s referendum on the topic. Can you please tell us more about the crooks you mentioned, Kevin? I will be voting from overseas by post to keep MMP with STV as my 2nd choice: I’d rather the public has the ability to break up power blocs than let power blocs have the ability to divide and conquer the public.

A founding member of the anti-MMP group campaigning for electoral change has been forced out over his connections to white supremacists in Australia.

It has been revealed that Alex Fogerty of Vote for Change was once associated with Australian New Nation.

Vote for Change spokesman Jordan Williams has told RadioLIVE that Mr Fogerty is no longer a member of the anti-MMP group.

High profile blogger Martyn Bradbury claims that people within the National Party knew Fogerty was connected to Australian New Nation.

Mr Bradbury says that Mr Fogerty has connections with National.

the referendum is a National Party thing. they’ve been itching to get rid of MMP for ages.

What’s wrong with STV? I think it’s way better than MMP or FPP.

STV lets less popular candidates get in – the greens would probably have 1/3 of parliament if we had STV.

It got Wellington its first Green mayor…

Personally I think “there’s no government like NO government”

oh an MMP was they system that got Hitler into power so can’t be that good!

    @ RBNZ
Frankly, I haven’t examined them all in detail. I support keeping MMP because it seems to be working though it could do with some tweaks.
