Bug 33484: Printing Multiple Files from Windows Explorer at Once Makes LibreOffice Unusable
May 12th, 2012This is as Offtopic as it gets, but here goes.
With LibreOffice installed, if you try to print multiple documents from the Windows Explorer, you have probably noticed that this behavior doesn’t work. Someone is reporting a similar issue on the Mac as well.
The LibreOffice people currently don’t know what’s causing this, but if you can add anything that might help the developers fix this, please see bug 33484.

Why not make the jump to a Linux based OS? You seem to like a lot of open source software like Stellarium and LibreOffice. Is there something on Windows that you don’t want to give up?
I made the jump a few years ago and have never looked back. Having seen Windows 8/Metro I couldn’t be happier.
I don’t use client side linux because I use Windows only software everyday, and wine sucks. I do, however, use open source software much of the time when I’m at the computer; Firefox, Thunderbird and LibreOffice.
If I was faced with a choice of having to use Windows 8 or trying to get my Windows applications to work with wine, I’d probably try to get things working under wine. I’ll avoid Windows 8 like I avoided Windows Me and Vista. The way things are going, Windows 7 will probably be the last version of Windows that I’ll use.
But this has nothing to do with users at the company I’m handling IT issues for who are wondering why they can’t print multiple documents from the file Explorer.
Ah, that’s rough. Best of luck with that, it sucks when something goes wrong with Open Source software in a business setting. People usually just assume since something is free it’s worse than something that isn’t. In reality you can usually find just as many bugs like this in private software development. They just assume if a private for-profit company can’t fix it then it’s an impossible bug to fix. Us humans and our cognitive biases 🙂
