Robert Reich to New College Graduates: ‘You’re F*cked’

May 20th, 2012

I’ve excerpted what I think are the key sentences.

Via: Robert Reich:

So much of what was once considered “knowledge work” – the kind that college graduates specialize in – can now be done more cheaply by software. Or by workers with college degrees in India or East Asia, linked up by Internet.

  1. Zuma says:

NAFTA, when it was first shat down upon us, smelled really really bad and seemed very much like it would *be* really really bad as time progressed -i mean this thing hit me like a bomb at the time. so, for this guy to now say this kind of shat [to put it nicely] as he does at a commencement address is beyond galling, it’s some sort of obscenity. one that is distinctly *not* ameliorated by any and all prior comments meant to cancel and/or squelch debate.

NAFTA can be repealed, just as easily as glass-steagal can be reinstated, and just as likely not to be.

so, looking up Reich and NAFTA now, i can only go through the first few hits before becoming overwhelmed by the stench.

We’re supposed to be listening from a man, who used to be former Bill Clinton’s Secretary of Labor, the man who was behind implementations of 1994/1995 NAFTA, and the one guy who opened paths to destroy America’s private sector’s blue collar labor and the middle-class.

Get me? The Dems shouldn’t be redebating NAFTA. They should be debating how to help Americans adapt to a new economy in which no job is safe…
