American Female Soldiers More Likely to Be Raped than Killed in Action

A House subcommittee is set to shed new light on the problem of sexual assault in the military today, when it will hear testimony on sexual assault numbers, prevention and response as part of its ongoing investigation into the issue.

“You serve your country and then destroy your life because the guy in the next bunk or the next foxhole becomes a sexual predator,” said Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA) of the females who have been sexually assaulted or raped while serving the country. Harman is attending a House subcommittee meeting today that will shed new light on the problem of sexual assault in the military.

“A woman who signs up to protect her country is more likely to be raped by a fellow soldier than killed by enemy fire,” said Rep. Jane Harman (D-CA), who introduced a bill this summer to increase and encourage the investigation of prosecution of sexual assault and rape cases in the military and is attending today’s hearing.

It will be the second such hearing this summer but is highly anticipated because Dr. Kaye Whitley, the director of the defense department’s Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office, will testify. Whitley was a no-show at the session July 31, even though the committee had subpoenaed her to attend.

I’m well over my “political correctness” phase, but still, reading news such as this makes me ashamed to be a man. Seriously.

The average American military man is not ready to be in an army with women. Apologies to you exceptions out there, but I think the evidence backs me up.

IMHO, no woman anywhere should be signing up to “protect her country”. It’s yet another sign of a sick society when it sends its young women to warzones while it’s fat, lazy middle-aged men hang around country clubs cutting immoral deals. Surely a nation’s young women are a key constituent of those who are meant to be protected, rather than candidates for taking an active part in the protecting?

That said, I’m by no means excusing the scumbags who molest them. I’m just highlighting another salient, related point.

Both my brother-in-law and his son, in their times, were given the option of going to jail or joining the military. Both chose the latter. My brother-in-law is not the rapist type, but I’m not so sure about his son. How many parents want their daughters mingling with guys who in other circumstances would be in jail? On the other hand, aren’t some of the prisoner torturers women? Maybe to them getting raped is some kind of S&M fun. Let’s face it; the military has never been the first option of the best and brightest, at least not since medieval times. What we have in the American military is a morass of naive, frustrated, confused, neglected, unwanted social misfits of less than average intelligence being led by clueless, gung-ho, alcoholic bullet heads brainwashed in West Point, Annapolis, and elsewhere. What do you expect?

The problem is that the male soldiers will get more heat from raping an Iraqi woman than from raping one of their own comrades. Sad commentary on America and our military. In many respects, women in Muslim countries are treated with more true respect that in America.

Why would anyone expect the U.S. Army to be good Boy Scouts any more than they would the Waffen SS? We’re an empire;empires are by definition immoral. So is it any surprise they the troops of the empire behave immorally?
