Cyclone Lusi

March 13th, 2014

A cyclone is going to cause havoc in my part of the world over the next day or so. My ISP already sent out an email pretty much telling everyone to prepare to lose Internet access. Never mind that the power goes out here at the drop of a hat. So, if I’m not posting, you’ll know why.

Via: NZ Metservice:

Cyclone Lusi is expected to move southwards today (Friday), bringing widespread heavy rain and easterly gales to the North Island from tonight (Friday night), and the upper South Island during Saturday. Rain is forecast to become heavy in Northland this evening, and 80-100mm are likely to have accumulated there by Saturday afternoon. The rain should spread quickly southwards, totalling more than 100mm in Coromandel, Bay of Plenty and Gisborne by Sunday morning.

Hopefully, your weather forecaster’s aren’t are incorrect, as much as mine have been lately. It seems anymore to me at least, that the weather forecasts are tools to instill TERROR into the hearts of humans. And then when the weather occurs it kind of like, ho hum you a@@holes. I hope that is what happens with you too Kevin. Rain is a nice thing. Wind isn’t to bad either. Its the frothing and foaming at the mouth of the weather forecasters here in the US I really resent.

This is definitely the most hyped storm in recent years, which may mean that it won’t be too bad.

We’re totally fine. Only 55mm of rain in 24 hours. That’s nothing, relative to what can happen here. Power hasn’t even gone out yet. Internet up. Sproglets playing LEGO peacefully. Baby asleep. Pleasant rain showers now. Head full of coffee. Ahhh.

We’ve battened down the hatches. Pulled in the deck furniture and all the potted plants that should’ve been planted out ages ago (who’s got the time?); kitties ensconced inside; sent the old man out to feed the Family Eels before they get battered by creek turbulence; sipping on a vodka mit crushed fresh Concord grapes.
