Israel Rejects New Zealand’s New Ambassador

September 8th, 2014

HA! A “protocol principle,” is it?

You know, like Mossad trying to obtain New Zealand passports to carry out international assassination operations.

New Zealand officials said Monday that Israel has rejected their new ambassador because he is also an envoy to the Palestinian Authority.

Since 2008, New Zealand’s ambassadors in Turkey have been responsible for covering a large swath of territory. But the officials said Israel has refused to accept their latest appointment to the post, Jonathan Curr, who was due to travel to Jerusalem in the coming days to present his papers.

“A few days ago, Israel advised New Zealand that it would not accept as ambassador a person who was also a representative to the Palestinian Authority,” Foreign Minister Murray McCully said in a statement.

The Israeli Embassy in Wellington said the matter is a “protocol principle” applicable to all ambassadors to Israel.

David Resnick’s not currently mentioned in that wikipedia article, which is strange. Neither is Ze’ev Barkan, which is astounding.

No mention of the Israeli diplomat Amir Laty either. He popped over from Australia to visit the accuseds and was later kicked out by the Aussie government. His replacement was moved on after pressure from the Australian Jewish community for rather different reasons. Later, the local Mossad head got the boot after Israel’s assassination of Mahmoud al-Mabhouh in Dubai. Passports again:
