CDC Reports Potential Ebola Exposure in Atlanta Lab

December 25th, 2014

Via: Washington Post:

Researchers studying Ebola in a highly secure laboratory mistakenly allowed potentially lethal samples of the virus to be handled in a much less secure laboratory at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta, agency officials said Wednesday.

One technician in the second laboratory may have been exposed to the virus and about a dozen other people have been assessed after entering the facility unaware that potentially hazardous samples of Ebola had been handled there.

The technician has no symptoms of illness and is being monitored for 21 days. Agency officials said it is unlikely that any of the others who entered the lab face potential exposure. Some entered the lab after it had been decontaminated. Officials said there is no possible exposure outside the secure laboratory at CDC and no exposure or risk to the public.

“At this time, we know of only the one potential exposure,” CDC Director Tom Frieden said in a telephone interview.

So one of the most dangerous viruses known to man (ahem, if it actually exists) is being researched in a CDC lab and there aren’t multiple safety levels to prevent accidents? Sure, oh sure.

    THE INCOMPETENCE MEME

So I’ve been wondering exactly what the purpose of all this supposed incompetence is all about. Because they’re throwing it in our faces now, and it’s even getting shown (and awkwardly explained, as in “clipboard guy”) in the MSM. That doesn’t happen unless it’s intentional.

For those who believe in big government, perhaps the purpose of “incompetence” is to piss them off so they’ll demand MORE government action, MORE funding of the health authorities, MORE money to be spent to GET IT RIGHT.

For those who believe in small or limited government, perhaps it’s to make them feel even more powerless since big government isn’t going away, and there’s nothing they can do about it — so might as well get the vaccine to protect them since the government is spreading Ebola due to ineptitude and bloated bureaucracy.

For those who believe that voting will improve the situation, perhaps the “incompetence” is there to piss them off so that they’ll vote for the party that doesn’t currently have the majority. “Democrats are failing us, let’s vote Republican” — and vice versa. (Jeb Bush 2016, btw)

For those who believe that countries and governments are outdated, perhaps it’s about the idea of a new age. You know, a one world government, a one world religion, where we can all live as one. Namaste! (ahem, that would be the New World Order)

Perhaps it’s all of the above — i.e. target various groups who think certain ways, and cover all the bases. The only group that’s not buying the “story” are the truthers, the event skeptics, the “conspiracy theorists” — and since they only comprise a tiny fraction of the population, no worries.

    Mission accomplished.
