Adolf Hitler ‘Planned Propaganda Cable TV’

Plans for the system were first found when Soviet soldiers entered Berlin but have recently been reexamined by researchers for a new Russian documentary.

The Orwellian screens would have been set up in public places and would show “people’s television”, depicting how the Aryan race should live, with the Nazis focusing on news, sport and education.

Ideas included building rooms beside laundries so women could gather round the TV to watch the broadcasts.

Prototype programmes included Family Chronicles: An Evening with Hans and Gelli, which was an early reality TV show depicting a wholesome Aryan life of a young German couple.

Engineer Walter Burch was asked to make the idea a reality, and tabled a document to Hitler called “Plan to supply people’s transmitter to German homes” which would result in the laying of a broadband cable between Berlin and Nuremberg.

Other plans included showing footage of executions of Nazi traitors.

Curt Schulmeitser, a former SS officer, told the programme how a relative of Hitler’s mistress Eva Braun was filmed being shot after trying to flee Berlin.

It was implied by Hitler’s deputy Heinrich Himmler the filming was for Hitler’s benefit.

He said: “Himmler wanted somebody else in a different place to see what was going on.”

According to the programme Joseph Goebbels, leader of the Nazi Party’s propaganda unit, realised the potential of the visual image: “The advantage of a visual image over the audible broadcast is the audible becomes a visual image with the help of an individual’s imagination, which can’t be kept under control. Regardless, each will always see his own.”

Hitler used live TV signals to broadcast his speech at the Berlin 1936 Olympic Games, and he continued to film his speeches and parades realising the power of television propaganda.

Many people I know confuse what they see on TV with reality. After all, if they saw it with their own eyes, it must be real…

Like those cold-case type detective ‘documentaries’ with the re-enactments. So many people think that they’re watching footage of the actual event. Even if they’re told that it’s a re-enactment! “Did you see the look in that madman’s eyes?? He was a crazy prick, I tell you!” “Uhh, it was an actor.” “No, I’m talking about the murderer. They showed him on TV killing the woman.”

A friend’s wife once told me about , “I won’t believe it until I see it on the TV.”

I spent years trying to warn my father of the coming current economic shamozzle. Thought I was a lunatic: “They won’t let that happen again.” When did he believe that things are screwed? When they started showing it on TV. He was ringing me up telling me the same things I had been telling him will happen over the last couple of years, as if I’d never mentioned them! See, they were in one ear, out the other all that time. But when the TV told him, there was no questioning! The visuals were there to prove it! He saw it with his own eyes!

    On a side note:

I sometimes think that this is the point of shows like ‘Big Brother’ and other ‘reality’ shows depicting many people locked up in a building (prison) together:

They fight, fuck and back-stab (whether scripted or not doesn’t matter, of course) for the opportunity to stay in the house (prison). The ones that get set free are deemed failures, while the smug ‘winners’ get the privilege of staying locked up! Perfect!

Now, drones, when you get locked up or sent to a camp, be like your heroes on BB! Be happy that you’re stuck in a smelly building with hundreds/thousands of other people! Fight to stay! Prisoner? No, you’re not a prisoner, you’re a contestant! Nay, you’re part of the family! Remember, you religiously watched 5 years of it on TV! Now is your time to live it!

Did the Russian soldiers mentioned in the above article happen to find scripts or episode summaries for ‘Big Brother’ in the Nazi goodies, by any chance??? I wouldn’t be surprised…

One of Jerry Mander’s old books mentions that TV was invented in Nazi Germany. (Once when I posted this, someone corrected me, so this may be debatable.)

One of the “bugs” that needed to be worked out of early TV was that watching it could cause epileptic-like seizures. I gather lights flickering at a certain frequency have that effect. (There was a Japanese video game that was recalled a few years back, for just this reason; it was causing seizures.)

One question that comes to mind is, what are the effects of flickering lights at various other frequencies? I’ll bet there are people who know.

TV manifestly does several things to people: It hypnotizes them, seems to erode any power of independent or critical thought, appears able to implant powerful post-hypnotic suggestions, and seems to make people incapable of distinguishing fantasy from reality.

Mander was right. TV should be abolished.

Computer screens seem to be addictive.
