Officials: Co-Pilot Deliberately Crashed Flight 9525

The co-pilot of the Germanwings flight that crashed in the French Alps deliberately worked to destroy the plane while passengers shrieked in terror and the pilot pounded on the cockpit door, a French prosecutor said at a news conference Thursday in Marseille.

“This was voluntary, this was deliberate,” Marseille prosecutor Brice Robin said. “He refused to open the cabin door in order to let the pilot back in. I repeat. He refused to let the pilot back in. He is the one who pressed the button that allowed the plane to begin descending and lose altitude.”

The information was obtained from the cockpit voice recorder of doomed Flight 9525, which suddenly began an eight-minute descent before smashing into the mountains Tuesday. The data recorder has not yet been found.

Co-pilot in Alps crash was not on terror watch list

Robin said the co-pilot, identified as German national Andreas Lubitz, 28, was not on a terror watch list. Robin said Lubitz said nothing during the descent, but could be heard breathing until the crash.

“The co-pilot is the only one in the cockpit,’ Robin said. “While he is alone he somehow manipulated the buttons on the flight monitoring system. He was alone at the helm of this Airbus 320.”

Robin stressed that the actions were deliberate. He said passengers could be heard screaming in fear.

“We start hearing banging, someone actually trying to break the door down,” Robin said. “That’s why the alarms were let off — because these were protocols that were put in place in case of any terror attack.”

Update: Germanwings Pilot Was Locked Out of Cockpit Before Crash in France

As officials struggled Wednesday to explain why a jet with 150 people on board crashed in relatively clear skies, an investigator said evidence from a cockpit voice recorder indicated one pilot left the cockpit before the plane’s descent and was unable to get back in.

A senior military official involved in the investigation described “very smooth, very cool” conversation between the pilots during the early part of the flight from Barcelona to Düsseldorf. Then the audio indicated that one of the pilots left the cockpit and could not re-enter.

“The guy outside is knocking lightly on the door and there is no answer,” the investigator said. “And then he hits the door stronger and no answer. There is never an answer.”

He said, “You can hear he is trying to smash the door down.”

While the audio seemed to give some insight into the circumstances leading up to the Germanwings crash, it also left many questions unanswered.

“We don’t know yet the reason why one of the guys went out,” said the official, who requested anonymity because the investigation is continuing. “But what is sure is that at the very end of the flight, the other pilot is alone and does not open the door.”

Update: Booz Allen Hamilton Contractor Assigned to NGA On Board

Two Americans presumed to have died in the plane crash in the southern French Alps include a U.S. government contractor and her daughter, according to a person close to the family.

The mother was identified as Yvonne Selke of Nokesville, Virginia, a longtime and highly regarded employee of Booz Allen Hamilton Inc. in Washington, and her daughter, whose name wasn’t immediately available.

Selke worked with the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, the Pentagon’s satellite mapping office, according to the person, who spoke on condition of anonymity because this person wasn’t authorized to release information to reporters.

A person who answered the phone at Selke’s home said the family wasn’t providing any information.

A Booz Allen spokeswoman declined to comment, noting that Germanwings had not yet disclosed identities of the crash victims.

The North Atlantic Council today, 23 March 2015, approved the nomination of General Denis Mercier, French Air Force, to the post of Supreme Allied Commander Transformation.

General Mercier is currently serving as the French Air Force Chief of Staff. General Mercier will assume the appointment as successor to General Jean-Paul Paloméros, French Air Force, at a change of command ceremony at the Headquarters of Supreme Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk, Virginia in September 2015.

On behalf of all Allied governments, the North Atlantic Council expressed deep and lasting gratitude for the distinguished service rendered by General Paloméros as the Supreme Allied Command Transformation.

Last moments of the plane

Speaking in Cologne, Germanwings CEO Thomas Winkelmann revealed that the plane began descending shortly after it reached cruising height following take-off from Barcelona airport.

10.01am CET Flight 4U 9525 takes off

A long descent

According to Mr Winkelmann, the plane started to descend very shortly after it reached its cruising altitude – and continued to do so for eight minutes until it crashed into the mountain at an altitude of some 5,000ft.

He said there was no explanation for why this descent from 38,000ft began, but said the 24-year-old plane was checked the day before the flight and that the captain on board was very experienced, with more than 10 years’ service and 6,000 hours of flying time.

Was there a distress signal?

France’s aviation regulator has said that the plane “did not itself make a distress call” during its eight-minute descent from cruising altitude.

While Germanwings’ Mr Winkelmann said there was still some confusion as to whether a distress signal had been sent from the plane, the DGAC authority said that controllers on the ground issued the “distress” call – the third and most serious of three stages of alerts used to help coordinate rescue efforts when an aircraft is considered in difficulty.

“The combination of the loss of radio contact and the aircraft’s descent which led the controller to implement the distress phase,” a spokesman said.

    My inner cynic senses a fresh excuse for a security crackdown. Can’t have the Europeans falling behind the Anglo Axis in terms of unwarranted search & seizure, CCTV penetration and an impending sense of doom from whatever muslim sect will officially be handed the blame this time… (ahem, GLADIO)

    Or it could simply be the latest in a long line of air tragedies brought about by that thing we call gravity interfering yet again with our technologically-based sense of superiority.

    No matter which way the cookie crumbles, it remains sad those aboard had to leave us ahead of schedule.

    Or perhaps there was someone aboard who was scheduled for early deletion?

    Nowadays, any airplane crash gets my attention and skepticism. Is this a piece of the puzzle perhaps? The fact that Germany recently slammed the NATO European Commander? Just asking.

    Paul Sandhu pointed out the RT/Spiegel article above in a previous broadcast. Here he mentions it again as a possible motive for the crash. And the Zero Hedge article is quite interesting in how “inexplicable” the incident was.

    There was no communication with the flight deck despite several attempts to make contact from air traffic control on the ground, suggesting the pilots were either busy trying to salvage the plane or were incapacitated and unable to respond.

    “It is a highly unusual event,” said David Learmount, head of air-safety at Flight Global Group Inc. “For a modern short-haul airliner to develop — in the cruise phase of flight — problems the crew cannot deal with is almost unheard of.”

    The A320, a single-aisle jet that’s the backbone of many global fleets, was heading from Barcelona to Dusseldorf, having flown to the Spanish city earlier in the day. Germanwings is the low-cost arm of Deutsche Lufthansa AG, and the airline has never had an accident that has claimed the lives of all those aboard.

    “For us all at Lufthansa and Germanwings, let me say that it’s simply inexplicable how a technically flawless airplane with two experienced Lufthansa pilots, how such a flight can turn into such a tragedy,” Lufthansa Chief Executive Officer Carsten Spohr said today at Frankfurt airport, adding that the carrier “will work with high pressure” to assist in the probe.

    It seems the mega-magnet short circuited the day of the plane crash. Whether this could impact the plane I dunno – but listening to the news, the description of the plane being so “automated” that crashes of it are rare to nil. Maybe it is just a coinkydink re the mega-magnets?

    Its probably just more of the “news” that the NYT “reports.” Like how did the NYT get this info? Pre-programming, like WTC 7? Most likely. Can you tell I am skeptical about this story?

    Hi Eileen, I heard about the “short circuit” at CERN and saw others posting videos that they believed it was connected to the flight, but considering how many other flights would have been in the region (presumably), it’s hard to see how it would have affected just one plane (unless intentional).

    The NY Times story is beyond WTF. Sounds like something out of the Twilight Zone. Freaking weird.

    Anyway, glad you’re skeptical. It’s the only way to live. lol

    Eileen, I hadn’t read the Dutchsinse article until after posting the above. He reveals that CERN is clearly lying about when the short circuit happened. Originally, CERN made their posting about the short-circuit 1-2 hours after the plane crash, and now they’re saying it happened on March 21st. Somebody’s got some splainin’ to do. Why did they lie? That’s the big question of course. Merely to distance themselves from conspiracy theorists who might connect some dots? Surely they wouldn’t be conCERNed about crazy wackos who never get media coverage anyway. So why the date change, which implies a cover-up?

    Okay, I’ll let it go after this but I just can’t believe we the sheeple are supposed to accept that this plane crash was singlehandedly accomplished by the scapegoat co-pilot. Warning this link contains very dry humor – which may be inappropriate for anyone sensitive or in mourning. I have to say I’ve had a family member die in a car crash and it scarred me big time.

    Dutchsinse has more, and has now concluded “I personally am of the opinion that the cover story is a smear on the pilot to cover for this CERN event.”

    While I do agree that the co-pilot story stinks of a cover-up and frame-job, I’m not convinced that CERN is the real reason, although it certainly could be. I’m seriously beginning to wonder if this whole thing was staged, along with crisis actors, dumped “wreckage” and the whole stinkin’ lot. I can’t dismiss the possibility, as seemingly unlikely as it sounds, given who owns and controls the media. Because from the very beginning, the crash site looked suspicious. There’s more at my forum, and also elsewhere on the web, including some very curious numerology/gematria.

    The numerology thing was just too much for me to follow. I know I said I wouldn’t write anything else about this crash but here I go.

    I’m not worried about not seeing parts of a plane. There was a crash outside of Pittsburgh here maybe 15 years ago (not sure)and it was the same scenario. Bits and pieces. Maybe we should have been more suspicious back then, but I think when anything hits the ground at that speed, it becomes powder. Just my opinion.

    My personal opinion is that co-pilot was on a drug to help him with his “medical” condition, and then he was put into deep hypnosis and taught that he would crash a plane. Sorry, I know that is very weird thinking on my part.

    My thinking is that there are MANY MANCHURIAN CANDIDATES in this universe. And I pity those who are chosen as the pawns. I don’t know. I have many doubts about the whole story. Like, hm, the NYT story saying a door closed. What was that? Someone getting off the plane?

    It takes time, it takes money, but the Archons have been among us since the beginning of our planet’s birth. And there is nothing worse for them imagining that the plan of love and light WILL work out on earth, and they might be sealed in the great cave were evil dwells, forever. Zoloft definitely helps their cause.
