$20 Billion Later Halliburton Moves Headquarters to Dubai
March 13th, 2007Enemy Collaborator Democrats squealing years late and $20 billion short… Priceless.
Via: Huffington Post:
Business must be slowing down in Iraq. After booking over $20 billion in revenues from its work in Iraq, some on no bid contracts and now under Congressional scrutiny for both the quality of its work and billing practices, Halliburton is moving its headquarters from Houston to Dubai. The company together with its KBR unit has been the Pentagon’s largest contractor in Iraq.
The move is being met with outrage on Capitol Hill. Senator Patrick Leahy (D. Vermont) and chairman of the judiciary committee voiced his anger, “This is an insult to the U.S. soldiers and taxpayers who paid the tab for their no bid contracts and endured their overcharges for all these years”.

take the $ and run.
Patti Smith, inducted into the Rock an Roll Hall of Fame (shame)sorry I’ve been there) said in Gloria “Jesus did not die for my sins.” Rock on Patti!
Haliburton moving to Dubai? Sounds like another smooth move on the part of Darth Cheney – you know, like Halliburton buying Dresser Industries? Asbestos, asbestos, asbestos.
Well Jesus didn’t die for Dick Cheney’s sins either but his fingerprints are all over this Halliburton move to Dubai.
Some people are born stupid and callous, like Dick Cheney. I see him living in reruns of the Christmas Carol. You know, where Scrooge has to visit the actions of his life and visit his past, present, and future? Dick Cheney’s hell ( as I envision it and hope for at times) is one where he’s gasping for air from inhaling asbestos; with the added kicker of depleted uranium shrinking his man parts. He will also be tortured for all time to come watching reruns of his decisions: buying Dresser Industries, buying off the US government for Halliburton, watching the shares fade into zero, over and over and over in his nightmares. All the while wheezing, gasping, choking, and being “messed on” with the blood of the infidel Iraqi’s and the sad, dead legions of soldiers who went to war dying for Dick Cheney lies. So sorry Dick – did you want some Halliburton futures with that enema while the Manchurian team attempts to make you more world friendly? Too Late for you to get a life DICK! What was that Led Zeppelin song about the Gallows Pole? See yourself in your dreams. DICK.
Well said, Diane.
The pirates are starting to abandon the sinking ship.
I have a question here: if they move their HQ to Dubai, are they still a US company? If not, the implications are quite interesting:
G.E. moved over 80% of its fiduciary assets outside the US, but did not endanger its qualification as a federal contractor by actually moving its HQs somewhere else. I mean their HQs still have a PO box in the US…
#1 To my knowledge, you need to be a US corp to get public contracts:if they do not care about being a US company after vacuuming in about 20 billions of banana republic contracts funded on public money, and increased their share price by a factor 30,000, is it because they expect the “pig at the trough” frat party to be over? If yes, it looks like the heyday of “freedom and democracy” in Iraq are OVER. I said OVER. If there was still the slightest chance of continued mugging of public money, these guys would be all teeth and claws clinging to their “preferred federal mugger” status…
#2 Becoming a de facto foreign company would be an ideal mean of escaping the legal consequences of the monumental corruption schemes that took place (if anybody in the US is still interested in actually applying the law, which is quite debatable, they might actually try, if only for the show). It is definitely a surefire way to dodge documents subpoenas that would be quite embarassing and look really untidy on prime time..
Other than that, yes m’am, take the money and run, banana republic at its most spectacular…I trust this piece of news and its implications will never make it to mainstream.
A company does NOT have to be a US headquartered corporation in order to receive US government contracts. For example, BAE Systems (British Aerospace), a UK-headquartered corporation, is a major (top 20) US defense contractor. I used to work right alongside their employees, in fact (and am still in DOD).
The parent company does have to have a US subsidiary, however, as is the case with BAE.
to fallout: how interesting! I did not think of the subsidiary issue…So they don’t even have a strategic motive? it’s just grab the money and run while you can?
Why not? Seems to be in fashion these days.
