Restrictions on Foreign Currency Checks

I can’t deposit foreign currency checks that are valued at under NZ$500 anymore with my bank (Kiwibank). I had been depositing foreign currency checks with smaller amounts with Kiwibank since I moved to NZ in 2006. They just recently changed the policy.

So, yeah… The screws are tightening a bit more.

    @ Kevin.
    Why would they do this when they could keep accepting <$500 cheques and charge customers a fee? In my last dealings with Kiwibank, I was surprised to find they wanted my Australian tax file number.
