Amazon Stores Alexa Transcripts Indefinitely, Unless Customers Manually Delete Them

I wouldn’t believe that anything can actually be deleted from that thing.

Amazon has confirmed that it keeps transcripts of users’ Alexa voice recordings indefinitely on its servers. The company also keeps Alexa voice recordings indefinitely. According to Amazon, customers customers do have an option to delete both the transcripts and voice recordings.

    Let’s pretend that Amazon actually deletes the data. Great! To where had it been copied before it was deleted? Hmm.

    Keep in mind, we’re talking about the operator of CIA’s cloud computing platform and a contender for DoD’s massive JEDI cloud contract.

    Place an always-on surveillance device from this company in my house?! haha No thanks.
