Wow. Amazing footage. I lived in the Upper East Side at the time and seeing this brings it all back. The city smelled of burning rubble for a long time. You would accommodate to the smell and then the wind would come from the south or you would venture downtown and the smell would come back. I ventured down to ground zero the Sunday after it happened (Tuesday) and that soot was everywhere. I saw people collecting it in plastic bottles which I thought strange.
