Contact Tracing to Shop in New Zealand [???]

May 19th, 2020

Update: This Definitely Isn’t Happening Everywhere in NZ

I went shopping today in the Far North. I didn’t encounter this.

I haven’t experienced this yet, but I haven’t tried to buy anything in town in a week…

Any business can do this if they choose even if covid19 was not on the table.
They are not a state run institution.
They are not required to according to https://www.business.govt.nz/covid-19/workplace-operations-covid-19-alert-levels/
Now, whether this was a directive from head office or a directive by the franchisee you won’t know unless you ask.
Even then they probably won’t say.
Corporates don’t care about your personal rights if it interfere’s with their business model or operations.
Just shop somewhere else, prefereably a smaller retail shop that needs your money more.
