World Health Organization Doctor: COVID Lockdowns Caused “Ghastly Global Catastrophe”

October 11th, 2020

I wonder if people are going to try to cover their asses now that the lawyers are sharpening their claws.

Britain’s envoy to the World Health Organisation has pleaded with governments to refrain from locking-down every time coronavirus infections rise as he slammed the ‘ghastly global catastrophe’ caused by crashing the world economy.

Dr David Nabarro blasted the use of lockdowns as a ‘primary means of controlling this virus’ and said they are only justified ‘to buy you time to reorganise, regroup rebalance your resources’ and ‘protect your health workers’.

Speaking to Andrew Neil for The Spectator magazine, the WHO scientist bemoaned the collapse of the tourism industry and claimed there would be a ‘doubling’ in the levels of world poverty and child malnutrition by next year as he warned that lockdowns make ‘poor people an awful lot poorer’.

‘I want to say it again: We in the World Health Organisation do not advocate lockdowns as a primary means of controlling this virus,’ Dr Nabarro said.

‘The only time we believe a lockdown is justified is to buy you time to reorganise, regroup, rebalance your resources, protect your health workers who are exhausted. But by and large, we’d rather not do it.

I originally thought lockdowns were a good idea, because I have no previous memory of living through a pandemic of any kind, so I defaulted to trusting the authorities upon experiencing my very first such event and witnessing all of society around me royally freak out about it. Now I think that Covid-19 is so contagious that lockdowns are a misguided approach. Any gains you might make in containing the contagion will probably be lost as soon as you end the lockdown. And considering the very harsh economic and social impact of these lockdowns, they certainly cannot be continued indefinitely.

I think this regardless of how actually dangerous to human health and life Covid is or is not. I’m starting to think it might not be quite as bad as were first led to believe, but this thought is also mitigated by the fact that at least some hospitals in Wisconsin where I live are on the verge of being overwhelmed by new serious Covid cases. I would probably have to know how many of these cases are people who are elderly and afflicted with other major health conditions to be able to have more clarity on the matter.

The ‘flatten the curve’ thing made perfect sense and was consistent with epidemiological realities. The meagre number of so-called ‘cases’ Australia is experiencing now would suggest that as far as that goal is concerned, mission was accomplished long ago.

Ah, but mow the message has shifted to ‘Stop the spread’, and this is wholly incompatible with the previous message and with reality. And so the talking heads continue to screech about safety & push fear, covid partisanship in the US continues to infect global media, and shill Bill continues to tell us vaccine unicorns will save us all.

Oh, BTW, I was intrigued to see Mister T’s treatments not only included D3 and zinc but also melatonin.
