“The Storming of the Capitol”: America’s Reichstag Fire?

The media are already spinning a narrative around the events in Washington DC. One that bears no resemblance to reality, does not hold up to any kind of scrutiny and will have massive, far-reaching consequences for all of us.
They’re calling it “one of the darkest days in our nations history”, a day that will “live in infamy”. It will likely be memed into a shorthand date – 1/6/21, like 9/11 and 7/7. It will be the day “American democracy was attacked and prevailed”, the day the nation nearly fell to “fascists”.
It will become just one more grand sweeping illusion upon which the teetering structures of US Imperial power are built.

As enabling events go this is laughable. I don’t make light of the death of Brian Sicknick (though we don’t have certainty around the events leading to his death) but the outrage preceded that. A guy in a Viking costume sat in the speaker’s chair? Someone stole Nancy Pelosi’s podium? We live in unserious times.
I’ll second that emotion. In the realm of political puppet theater, this one strains credulity to the breaking point — and the real tragedy is that no one is even asking themselves the MOST obvious question :
How did all those bozos get past the HIGH SECURITY cordon firmly in place around symbolic government facilities like the Capitol and the White House.
Back in late 2016, over lunch with a small circle of ex-pat compatriots, my read on the election of the outgoing puppet and his sure-to-be-divisive role was “lightning rod”.
Who better to polarize an already fractured public consciousness (“mass mind”) and get all the blue Kool-Aid drinkers foaming at the mouth than the Orange Buffoon and his towering edifice of hubris and lies.
After a steady diet of “reality programming” over the last couple decades or so, it appears the majority of “useless eaters” stateside can no longer even tell the difference between a badly acted stageplay and actual terrorism, which would surely have involved a great deal more bloodshed and pain.
Mission accomplished.
To the point where it feels like something went missing. Was there supposed to be a bomb attack or an actual fire in the Capitol? It’s like the media is playing the script for an event that never happened. It’s as if on 9/11 the towers never collapsed, there was no sign of any jet fuel and everyone got out of the building alive, but the media went nuts anyway while everyone else stood round scratching their heads, asking ‘What the hell just happened?’
