Attack on U.S. Soldiers in Jordan: White House Says “Significant Military Response Coming”

January 29th, 2024

And Now… U.S. Failed to Stop Drone Attack Because of Identification Mixup:

The U.S. failed to stop a deadly attack on an American military outpost in Jordan because the enemy drone approached its target at the same time a U.S. drone was also returning to base, U.S. officials said Monday.

The return of the U.S. drone led to some confusion over whether the incoming drone was friend or foe, officials have concluded so far.

The enemy drone was launched from Iraq by a militia backed by Tehran, U.S. officials said. The outpost, Tower 22, sits in Jordan, near the borders of Iraq and Syria.

An American defense official said on Monday that the U.S. has yet to find evidence thus far that Iran directed the attack, which killed three U.S. troops and wounded dozens of others.

The attack signaled an escalation in hostilities that have been growing since the Oct. 7 Hamas assault on Israel and the ensuing war in Gaza. President Biden said the U.S. would respond.

Iran has vehemently denied that it was behind the weekend drone attack on a Jordanian base near the Syrian border which killed three American troops, and according to a revised figure injured 34. A one-way drone reportedly slammed into a tent which was housing soldiers at the base, which is why casualties are so high, but questions remain.

Tehran has called the accusations that it was behind the attack “baseless” after President Biden on Sunday vowed “We shall respond”. Within the hours after news of the attack on Jordan’s Tower 22 base there were widespread reports that Iranian allied groups in Iraq and Syria were temporarily evacuating their bases, expending retaliatory airstrikes.

Iranian allies are now bracing for a major US response to the deadly attack on the Jordanian outpost, according to the Wall Street Journal. Already there’s been an apparent Israeli airstrike on a Damascus suburb, resulting in the deaths of two people, said to be targeting an “Iranian-backed group”.

Retired CIA analyst Ray McGovern is still a remarkable intellect well into his eighties. He puts the odds of this attack being a false flag at 50/50:

Using US personnel as bait to lure Iran into attacking them so the US has an excuse to ‘retaliate against’ (attack) Iran… sounds like something out of the US playbook.

If the weapon used was US-made and supposedly given to Iran, could it have been launched not from Iran but from somewhere the US controls? The ‘we thought it was our drone’ line would support that. Do drones fly as fast as Hellfire missiles?

Agreed. Quite a few commenters at ZeroHedge suspected it was a false flag, too. Sure fits the current war-mongering agenda for the USSA to take on Iran. The Zios have wanted that for a long time.

“The current false flag seems to be ‘Jordan drone strike by US drone palmed off as Iranian in origin’.

Iran denies they attacked or had any involvement in the drone strike. This is unusual in that they will typically declare their strikes (especially in retaliation for something), so my suspicion is, for once, it isn’t them, especially when paired with the claim the drone arrived at the same time as a US drone: what if it is the same US drone?

    Questions questions.”
