If a law makes it your property exclusively, can you forbid govt from setting foot on it?

I would support a law where you can have up to 1 or 2 property
(of your choosing) exempt from property taxes and the rest could still be taxed. This would avoid some billionaire owning all the land forever while having the same benefit as no property taxes for the common man.

It would be hard to figure out anything that’s really fair to all that govt can’t figure out a work-around for to benefit the rich.

Property taxes are state laws — I can’t see all states agreeing to drop them at once. What will replace the lost revenue?

NH has no income tax but high property tax. When I lived there, my property tax was always lower than an income tax would have been, so it was ok with me. How did NH get by on that? Limited welfare benefits, for one thing.

On the other hand, nobody ever being able to force me off the land I occupy is most important to me.

How about no tax at all except on sales, no exceptions? The rich, whether individuals, NGO’s or businesses, buy more stuff.

To save on taxes, just don’t spend as much.

Prices might be forced down, too.

Wouldn’t the IRS hate that — less spending and lower prices, both lowering their haul? The consumer in control!
