Store Closings In The United States Are On Pace To Set A New Record High In 2025

So far this year, the total amount of retail space that has been permanently closed has surpassed 120 million square feet. We have never seen anything like this before. Store closings spiked during the early days of the pandemic, but in 2025 stores are being permanently shuttered at an even faster pace. In fact, during the first six months of this year 5,822 store closures were recorded.
It’s no leap to consider Lahaina et al land grabs. Yet this may be in the same category – slow motion, diffused energy as opposed to coherent.
This reminds me of those bombs that kill all the people and animals but leave all the buildings intact. They solve the problem of where to send the people. Perhaps robots will dispose of the corpses in crematoria or chemical baths.
There has been a persistent grey haze hanging over New England and NE Canada since Aug.1. It looks like the smeary grey that clouds get from chemtrails. At first, they said it was smoke from Canadian wildfires. Now they don’t say what it is, just “haze”. I live in a very rural area but have only seen any stars at night, and then only a few, on two or three nights out of the past 16. It’s been black nights with a hazy orange moon.
Respiratory irritations like sinusitis are increasing, and diseases like Legionnaire’s are breaking out.
The daytime temps have been in the 90’sF and sometimes over 100F for days on end.
Most people seek relief from mechanical air filtration and air-conditioning, but won’t they become rationed or forbidden when the AI centers are up and running, and the electricity is needed for them?
Huge amounts of electricity will become available for technological advance when all those city apartments and suburban homes are vacant.
