To Those Enjoying the Ride on the Gold and Silver Rocket Ship…

October 16th, 2025

Warning: Not financial advice.

If your investment time horizon with gold and/or silver is years or decades, it’s probably safe to ignore this.

But…

If your outlook is shorter term, or you FOMOed in recently, familiarize yourself with the Bump and Run Reversal as the metals keep squeezing higher:

As the name implies, the Bump and Run Reversal (BARR) is a reversal pattern that forms after excessive speculation drives prices up too far, too fast. Developed by Thomas Bulkowski, the pattern was introduced in the June-97 issue of Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities and included in his book, the Encyclopedia of Chart Patterns.

The pattern was originally named the Bump and Run Formation, or BARF. Bulkowski decided that Wall Street was not ready for such an acronym and changed the name to Bump and Run Reversal. Bulkowski identified three main phases to the pattern: lead-in, bump, and run. We will examine these phases and also look at volume and pattern validation.

Consider paring down long positions, or buying protective put options.

“There is something decidedly strange about this particular run up. Both gold and silver are trading almost in exact parallel lockstep and the GSr hasn’t changed a bit and its like it is locked at 80:1. Even after several weeks its still exactly that right now. During run ups like these I like to swap one metal for the other as the ratios change and wait a few years. There has been no opportunity to do that whatsoever, its just sell either or don’t. They keep saying it is London out of silver but gold is following in step for step. That is not normal and makes me think this is some kind of controlled and managed demolition. This is something different than the last 3-4 I have lived through. i don’t have an answer unless this is finally the beginning of the big dance.”
