So sorry…

A council has fined a man four times after a disabled bay was painted around his legally parked car.

The owner of the car, who wishes to remain anonymous, left his car on an unrestricted road near his home in New Addington, south London, while he was on holiday last month.

He returned to find he had been issued with four penalty charge notices (PCN).

Footage from his CCTV showed workers painting around his Audi, prompting parking attendants to give him tickets between Nov 22 and 26.

Croydon council, which has gone bankrupt three times in the past five years, “apologised” and claimed the fines were “cancelled a week before the video was uploaded to social media”.

The local authority insisted it was “standard practice” to paint around vehicles to prevent delays, but failed to prevent parking attendants from issuing fines.
