Update: My Starlink Referrals Only Count Inside New Zealand

Back in October, Starlink posted this on X:

Starlink customers can now refer anyone in all 150 countries, territories, and markets where Starlink is available!

When I noticed that my referrals weren’t counting, I asked support and they wrote back:

Thank you for your patience, while we reviewed your referrals.

We confirmed only one referred account was eligible, as it activated in New Zealand. The others were ineligible per our policy: “Referrals must be made within the same country.

Sign up for Starlink using my referral link and earn both of us a free month of service.

I’d been with my previous ISP since 2013. They provided not much speed for a lot of money, but I was happy to have it when it was the only option.

I suggested Starlink to a neighbor who couldn’t even get service from the ISP above. When her Starlink kit arrived, I set it up for her.

I nearly passed out when I saw her speed test results. It’s very fast.

Starlink recently began offering free hardware on their Residential Lite tier of service in my area, so I decided to try it.

WOW!

I don’t want to state what speeds I’m getting because I haven’t seen anyone reporting speeds this fast on Residential Lite. (If you contact me, I’ll send you a screenshot of several speedtest.net results from various times of the day and night.) New Zealand is a village, and it’s not in my best interest to promote this in my immediate area. The more people use it locally, the slower it could get for me. Hint: By “Slower,” we’re still likely talking three digit download speeds.

But since most of you reading this are far, far away from me…

If you sign up for Starlink using my referral link, you will earn both of us a free month of service.

If you live in a very remote location and/or you are connected to the Internet over copper phone lines (DSL), Starlink could be a massive upgrade for you. Even if you have fiber, or some other gigabit class connection at home, Starlink’s Roaming offering may interest you.

Thank you!
