In June 2021 it was acquired by a consortium of private equity firms Blackstone, Carlyle and Hellman & Friedman valuing the company at US$34 billion in one of the largest leveraged buyouts of all time. It was the nation’s largest privately held manufacturer and distributor of medical supplies providing products, education, clinical programs and services across the continuum of care with operations in over 125 countries and territories.

A massive fire at a Tracy warehouse complex was burning out of control Thursday afternoon and sending a huge plume of black smoke into the air.
The fire broke out at a little before 1 p.m. at the Medline Distribution Center, a medical supply warehouse in the 5700 block of Promontory Parkway just south of Interstate Highway 205 and west of the downtown area, according to Tracy Police Department spokesperson Kaylin Heefner.

In a Thursday evening press conference, Tracy Fire Chief Randall Bradley said when firefighters made entry into the Medline Inc. warehouse, the sprinkler system was not operating.
Chief Bradley also mentioned that fire hydrants were not providing good pressure, which hindered their ability to attack the fire.
