Via: Washington Post:

A computer glitch at a flight information processing center this morning is delaying flights across the eastern seaboard, according to reports from the Federal Aviation Administration.

FAA spokeswoman Diane Spitaliere said computer systems in Atlanta that process flight plan and weather-related data for flights nationwide failed early this morning, causing delays on the East Coast and in other regions of the country.

Lawdy, but the Pook got caught in this mess, with flight delays of 2 hours. Infinitely worse was being subjected to the inescapable airport TV screens. There it was — stark evidence of the eye-popping depths to which US culture has fallen. On CNN, under the headline of BREAKING NEWS, was the breathtaking PARIS HILTON WEARS DESIGNER SWEATSUIT IN COURT.

    Dear Pookie,

Whilst it warms my little cotton socks knowing of your generous support for Kevin, I must disabuse you. US Culture is, and has always been, at best, a contradiction in terms. There are other far more odious descriptions but, thankfully for us all, I’ll refrain from enumerating such. In future, please, forgo referring to the social arrangements the USA is organised by as to having any remote connection to culture. Thank you for your cooperation. 🙂
