    we have used bamboozle nappies with great success. they’re made of bamboo, a fast growing plant. postage to NZ might be harsh, of course, as they’re in the UK. if you do go down this route, we bought the larger of the 2 sizes and they worked fine from birth – just get the non-velcro version, as they are more adjustable. we’re still using them with our 15 month old.

    look into elimination communication (EC). It works and ties in well with cloth diapers.

    We have used cloth diapers from Mother-Ease for our 15 month old (since he was about 1 month old)

    We’ve bought two “sets” — a smaller one, and a larger one which should last him until he’s done with diapers.

    We dump our diaper water on our satsuma mandarin orange tree — it seems to like it.
