MMS: Solution of Sodium Chlorite and Citric Acid
March 22nd, 2009A friend of mine, who lives in the bush a couple of valleys over from us, told me about MMS (Miracle Mineral Supplement) a few months ago. I looked into it briefly, thought that it seemed interesting, and that I’d need to take a closer look at some point.
Then, in response to the story about Bill Gates, Star Wars technology and malaria, a reader in the U.S. sent me an email about MMS and malaria, and how he used MMS himself with beneficial results.
Ok, that was it. I decided to take a closer look at MMS.
I’ve been reading about MMS over the last few days, and I’m very intrigued. I’ve managed to acquire some MMS to experiment with (on myself of course), and I just started today.
Cryptogon is not an alternative health blog, but I’ve been interested in and using alternative health modalities for about 15 years. I know that many of you are interested alternative health information as well. MMS seemed like something that was definitely worth mentioning. If I experience any results (good or bad), I’ll let you know. I don’t have any serious health problems, but there are a couple of relatively minor, but persistent issues, that I’d like to see resolved.
MMS is being discussed in dozens of places on the Internet. You’ll find them soon enough if you look into this.
I would start with the following information:
The inventor/discoverer is a man named Jim Humble. He has written a book, the first half of which is available online for free, called:
The Miracle Mineral Supplement of the 21st Century
The next source I read, top to bottom, was No Miracle, Just Wonderful Chemistry. That is a post by Adam Abraham, a filmmaker and alternative health researcher who created a documentary about MMS. I have not yet seen the film, but I will soon.
I’m not selling MMS. I won’t accept any commissions for specific alternative health related products that I haven’t personally used and found to be beneficial. That’s why you don’t see any links to buy MMS here. So, just to be clear, I have ZERO financial interest in what you do, or don’t do, with regard to this. I have signed up for “reseller” status at a company that makes MMS, but that was just so that I could get a discounted price. I’m not promoting the affiliate link here on purpose. There are a variety of companies selling MMS (28% sodium chlorite solution) all over the world and it is extremely affordable.

FDIC Friday: Three Banks, Two Credit Unions Taken Over by Regulators
March 21st, 2009Via: MarketWatch:
The pace of the ongoing credit crisis quickened significantly Friday when regulators seized three banks and placed two large corporate credit unions into conservatorship, citing a need to “stabilize the corporate credit union system.”
Banks in Colorado, Georgia and Kansas were closed by regulators, bringing the number of bank failures this year to 20, while the National Credit Union Administration Board seized corporate credit unions in California and Kansas that have a combined $57 billion in assets. Corporate credit unions are chartered to act as a sort of clearinghouse for the credit unions that serve consumers.

France Officially Asks to Rejoin NATO Command
March 21st, 2009Via: AP:
President Nicolas Sarkozy has submitted a formal request to rejoin the NATO command structure following a 43-year absence, French and NATO officials said Friday.
A letter with the request was presented Thursday to NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer during an EU summit in Brussels, the officials said on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly.
Submitting the letter was a formality, but an essential step in France’s return to the alliance — which celebrates its 60th birthday in two weeks.
The NATO official said the alliance must now decide what sort of command posts France will take up.
Upon fully returning to NATO, France expects to receive two command posts — one in Norfolk, Virginia, responsible for defining the strategic transformation of the alliance, and another in Lisbon, Portugal.
In 1966, President Charles de Gaulle abruptly pulled France out of the NATO command and evicted all allied troops and bases, including its military headquarters, from France in an effort to assert sovereignty over its own territory.
France remained a NATO member, but has stayed outside the decision-making core since de Gaulle’s pullout.
De Gaulle’s assertion of French independence at the height of the Cold War came as a shock at the time and caused a rift with Washington that deepened in 2003, when France kept its troop out of the American-led invasion of Iraq.
Sarkozy, a conservative, has sought to mend frayed relations with the U.S. since taking office in 2007, and the election of President Barack Obama has boosted his efforts.
Earlier this month, Sarkozy announced his intention to rejoin NATO’s integrated military command, insisting he wanted France to be able participate fully in alliance military planning and in crafting NATO policy.
The United States and NATO welcomed Sarkozy’s comments, but the French leader’s plan aroused fierce passions among both leftist and some conservative lawmakers at home. They voiced fears that a closer relationship with the U.S.-led alliance could limit France’s prized ability to act independently on the world stage.
Amid the opposition to Sarkozy’s plan, Prime Minister Francois Fillon proposed a parliamentary no-confidence motion — which the government handily survived. Lawmakers in France’s lower house voted 329-238 on Tuesday in favor of the government’s foreign policy.
French troops have been participating in NATO missions since the mid-1990s, including in Bosnia, Kosovo and Afghanistan. France is now among the top five contributors to allied military operations and the No. 4 benefactor to alliance budgets for NATO operations.
Israeli Soldiers Admit to Deliberate Killing of Gaza Civilians
March 20th, 2009Via: Times Online:
The Israeli army has been forced to open an investigation into the conduct of its troops in Gaza after damning testimony from its own front line soldiers revealed the killing of civilians and rules of engagement so lax that one combatant said that they amounted on occasion to “cold-blooded murder”.
The revelations, compiled by the head of an Israel military academy who declared that he was “shocked” at the findings, come as international rights groups are calling for independent inquiries into the conduct of both sides in the three-week Israeli offensive against Palestinian Islamists.
The soldiers’ testimonies include accounts of an unarmed old woman being shot at a distance of 100 yards, a woman and her two children being killed after Israeli soldiers ordered them from their house into the line of fire of a sniper and soldiers clearing houses by shooting anyone they encountered on sight.
“That’s the beauty of Gaza. You see a man walking, he doesn’t have to have a weapon, and you can shoot him,” one soldier told Danny Zamir, the head of the Rabin pre-military academy, who asked him why a company commander ordered an elderly woman to be shot.
“I gathered the graduate students of the course who fought in Gaza, to hear their impressions from the fighting. I wasn’t prepared for any of the stuff I heard there. I was shocked,” Mr Zamir said. “I think that the writing was on the wall, but we just didn’t want to see it, we didn’t want to face it.”
One non-commissioned officer told Mr Zamir, himself a deputy battalion commander in the reserves, that the army “fired a lot of rounds and killed a lot of people in order for us not to be injured or shot at.
“When we entered a house, we were supposed to bust down the door and start shooting inside and just go up storey by storey… I call that murder. Each storey, if we identify a person, we shoot them. I asked myself – how is this reasonable?”
The same unnamed NCO said that his commanding officer ordered soldiers on to a rooftop to shoot an old woman crossing a main street during the fighting, which a Palestinian rights groups said left 1,434 people dead, 960 of them civilians.
“I don’t know whether she was suspicious, not suspicious, I don’t know her story,” the NCO said. “I do know that my officer sent people to the roof in order to take her out… It was cold-blooded murder.”
Another NCO recounted a military blunder that led to a mother and her two children being shot dead by an Israeli sniper. “We had taken over the house… and the family was released and told to go right. A mother and two children got confused and went left… The sniper on the roof wasn’t told that this was okay and that he shouldn’t shoot… you can say he just did what he was told… he was told not to let anyone approach the left flank and he shot at them.
“I don’t know whether he first shot at their feet or not, but he killed them,” the soldier said.
The soldiers’ accounts were submitted anonymously at a meeting at the academy around a month ago. The Israel army said that it had started an investigation, but that this was the first time it had heard such testimony, despite having debriefed troops itself.
Breaking The Silence, an organisation of former soldiers who gather witness accounts from troops in the Palestinian territories, said that its own investigation into Operation Cast Lead, as the war was known in Israel, had revealed a similar picture of the fighting.
“It’s definitely in line with what we are hearing,” said one of the researchers.
Another disturbing element reported by the soldiers was the role of military rabbis in distributing booklets that framed the fighting as a religious war. “All these articles had a clear message: we are the Jewish people, we have come to the land by miraculous means, and now we have to fight to remove the Gentiles who are getting in our way and preventing us from occupying the Holy Land… a great many soldiers had a feeling throughout this operation of a religious war,” said one soldier.
There were also accounts of soldiers being ordered to throw all the furniture out of Palestinians’ homes as they were taken over.
“We simply threw everything out the windows to make room and order. The entire contents of the house flew out the windows: refrigerator, plates, furniture. The order was to remove the entire contents of the house.”
The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights released the names of 1,417 Gazans that it says were killed in the war, saying that 926 were civilians. The Israeli Government contends that most of those killed were combatants or legitimate targets.
Obamas to Plant Organic Vegetable Garden on White House Lawn
March 20th, 2009Hmm. I don’t remember smoking crack this evening, so I’m at a bit of a loss for words here.
Rather than trying to be cynical about this, and looking at it in terms of HR875, I’ll just sit here in stunned silence—for now—taking it all in.
Ok, just a few words.
Could it be possible that Michelle Obama knows which way the wind blows and is trying to destroy any chance of HR875 going any further? I don’t want to be seen as suffering from irrational exhuberance here, but what other explanation is there?
Would HR875 apply to the White House garden? Because the food is grown and consumed on location, I don’t think that HR875 would apply. If it was decided that the school kids were to learn about selling some of the food at a farmers market, then HR875 would apply.
I don’t know what’s going on, but this will be VERY interesting to watch.

The White House is getting a new garden.
First lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to break ground Friday on a new garden near the fountain on the South Lawn that will supply the White House kitchen.
She will be joined by students from Bancroft Elementary School in the District of Columbia. The children will stay involved with the project, including planting the fruits, vegetables and herbs in the coming weeks and harvesting the crops later in the year.
Mrs. Obama spent time earlier this week at an exhibit on rooftop gardening.
“We’re going to get a big one in our back yard, the South Lawn,” she promised the volunteers.
Such a White House garden has been a dream of noted California chef Alice Waters, considered a leader in the movement to encourage consumption of locally grown, organic food. She has been appealing for change through the taste buds since the 1960s.
She organized a series of fundraising dinners in Washington before President Barack Obama’s inauguration in January that served foods purchased from local producers at an area farmer’s market to show how it can be done.
Reached Thursday at her Berkeley, Calif., restaurant, Chez Panisse, Waters said she was thrilled by the news.
“It just tells you that this country cares about people’s good health and about the care of the land,” she said. “To have this sort of ‘victory’ garden, this message goes out that everyone can grow a garden and have free food.”
Victory gardens were vegetable gardens planted during the world wars with encouragement from the government to make sure there was enough food for civilians and the troops. Waters says her family had such a garden.
Waters has been lobbying for a vegetable garden at the White House since 1992. Recent White Houses have grown some herbs and have practiced limited container gardening on the mansion’s roof to supply it with tomatoes, peppers and other vegetables.
The new garden will be the first on the White House grounds in many decades, Waters said.
She said Michelle Obama always has been receptive to the idea.
“She talks about food in connection with children, and it’s a beautiful thing,” Waters said.
Waters also has pushed the administration to adopt her Edible Schoolyard project in which children plant their own produce to eat in the school cafeteria. Most public schools are serving too much processed food that is contributing to the childhood obesity epidemic, she argues.
13 Firms Receiving Federal Bailout Owe Back Taxes
March 19th, 2009It should get interesting around April 15th in the U.S…
Via: AP:
At least 13 firms receiving billions of dollars in bailout money owe a total of more than $220 million in unpaid federal taxes, a key lawmaker said Thursday.
Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., chairman of a House subcommittee overseeing the federal bailout, said two firms owe more than $100 million apiece.
“This is shameful. It is a disgrace,” said Lewis. “We are going to get to the bottom of what is going on here.”
The House Ways and Means subcommittee on oversight discovered the unpaid taxes in a review of tax records from 23 of the firms receiving the most money, Lewis said as he opened a hearing on the issue.
The committee said it could not legally release the names of the companies owing taxes. It said one recipient had almost $113 million in unpaid federal income taxes from 2005 and 2006. A second recipient owed almost $102 million dating to before 2004. Another was behind $1.1 million in federal income taxes and $223,000 in federal employment taxes.
“If we looked at all 470 recipients, how much would they owe?” Lewis asked.
Lewis said the panel plans to review tax records from other firms receiving federal money, but he was unsure if it would look at every firm.

U.N. Panel Says World Should Ditch Dollar
March 19th, 2009Mmm hmm.
Via: Reuters:
A U.N. panel will next week recommend that the world ditch the dollar as its reserve currency in favor of a shared basket of currencies, a member of the panel said on Wednesday, adding to pressure on the dollar.
Currency specialist Avinash Persaud, a member of the panel of experts, told a Reuters Funds Summit in Luxembourg that the proposal was to create something like the old Ecu, or European currency unit, that was a hard-traded, weighted basket.
Persaud, chairman of consultants Intelligence Capital and a former currency chief at JPMorgan, said the recommendation would be one of a number delivered to the United Nations on March 25 by the U.N. Commission of Experts on International Financial Reform.
“It is a good moment to move to a shared reserve currency,” he said.
Blackwater Still Operating in Iraq
March 19th, 2009Via: Washington Times:
Days after the Baghdad government decided it no longer wanted the company then known as Blackwater in Iraq, the State Department signed a $22.2 million deal in February to keep the embattled contractor working there through most of the summer, contract records show.
The decision keeps Blackwater – since renamed Xe – in Iraq months longer than anyone has suggested publicly, while raising questions about why the U.S. would pay a contractor for work in Iraq if it may not be able to operate there legally.
The State Department has been under pressure from Blackwater critics, including several in Congress, not to renew the company’s contracts in Iraq. Much of the concern stems from a 2007 incident that left 14 Iraqi civilians dead and six former Blackwater guards facing manslaughter charges. One of the guards pleaded guilty, but the company was accused of no wrongdoing in the incident.
In late January, the Iraqi government said it would not renew Blackwater’s operating license and that the company would have to leave as soon as a joint Iraqi-U.S. committee completes its work on guidelines for the operation of private security companies. State Department officials said they would honor the decision.
On Feb. 2, a department spokesman was asked whether officials planned to renew one of Blackwater’s contracts past May. The spokesman, Robert Wood, said the department had told Blackwater “we did not plan to renew the company’s existing task force orders for protective security details in Iraq.”
But records available through a federal procurement database show that on that same day, the State Department approved a $22.2 million contract modification for Blackwater “security personnel” in Iraq, with a job completion date of Sept. 3, 2009.
“Why would you continue to use Blackwater when the Iraqi government has banned the highly controversial company and there are other choices?” asked Melanie Sloan, executive director of the nonpartisan Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington.
State Department spokesman Noel Clay said the contract modification involves aviation services. “The place of performance is Iraq, but it is totally different than the Baghdad one that expires in May,” he said.
